Bolec Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 (edited) Aiming Station seems broken, head tracking moving the station ... and its impossible to disable ..., gyroscopes are broken in cold and hot start ... online and and singleplay. Edited August 11, 2021 by Bolec
SnuggleFairy Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 @BolecI don't have any of these problems. They are gonna mark it as "need track replay", so if you have one, please add
hannibal Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) I just tried the new Aiming Station View... Although the image is clearer... it is jarring to have the monocle view stuck to your face, in VR. If the monocle image stays where it is, even if i turn my head away to see total darkness, that is ok.. IS THERE A WAY TO NOT HAVE THE circular view not stuck to your face in VR? if not, i actually prefer the MFD implementation... scoobie Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Hi. As for the TrackIR in the aiming station - same here! Track included. I disabled and re-enabled TrackIR a few times (it's easy to spot when) so that I could illustrate the problem - the view follows TrackIR, but it's NOT where the station is really "looking" or where it would guide a missle. Only when you disable TrackIR, the view, after a second or two, snaps back to where it's really looking. Disabling TrackIR bindings in the aiming sight control setup didn't help, either (picture attached). hind_aiming_sight_w_trackir.trk 1 i7-8700K 32GB 3060Ti 27"@1080p TM Hawg HOTAS TPR TIR5 SD-XL 2xSD+ HC Bravo button/pot box

If i open the replay in mission editor and save it as miz - it doesn't do that for me when i run the mission, the sight works correctly. This is the Caucasus "Free Flight" quickstart mission for the Hind and if i run the default mission from the quickstart menu, the sight works correctly. Possibly a setting somewhere interfering? Just my 2 cents, hope it helps the devs. @scoobie can you run the miz i attached below and see if the sight is still borked for you? hind_aiming_sight_w_trackir.miz
SnuggleFairy Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 @scoobie@Bolec Found the culprit. Go into settings - Other (or misc.) and uncheck "Use TrackIR in external views". But yeah that setting probably shouldn't affect the sight... 1 1
TaygaMongun Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Another temporary solution atm is to pause TrackIR (default key F9) when scoped into the aiming station. DCS will float the camera back to 'true centre' after 1 second of inactivity. Of course, this is slightly annoying having to remember to pause and unpause when scoping in and out, but it preserves the use of TrackIR for external cameras. 1
scoobie Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Wow... you're right, "TrackIR external views" is the culprit, nice catch, thank you! (FYI: in the .miz file you attached it's still borked for me.) Yeah, it's a kind of bug. Moreover, the aiming sight seems to inherit TrackIR settings from gunner/operator settings. As I showed in the picture above, I deleted the bindings for the aiming sight, but TrackIR was still active. However, if I delete them from gunner/operator, TrackIR will then "die" (for both gunner/operator AND the aiming sight). Which means there's something wrong with settings for aiming sight. They were meant, so it looks, to be separate from gunner/operator, while they're not, they're kind of hardwired to the gunner/operator settings. Anyways, thanks for catching the culprit, I have disabled it for now. @TaygaMongun You're right, but just as you say - it's annoying and especially so if you have to use the keyboard to disable TrackIR (I consider my joystick buttons too "precious" for such low priority bindings). 2 i7-8700K 32GB 3060Ti 27"@1080p TM Hawg HOTAS TPR TIR5 SD-XL 2xSD+ HC Bravo button/pot box
TaygaMongun Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 I believe this is a carry over with the new ATGM sight rendering method in that it is an external camera like the F4 camera view, which inherits TrackIR input for the camera viewing, but not for the centre point. Note that one cannot aim and guide the missile using TrackIR as Track IR does not change the 'centre point/aiming point'. The missile will travel to the 'centre point/aiming point', and not the TrackIR offset 'view point'. Track displays that the first missile does not follow 'guidance' performed by TrackIR. TrackIR is then paused (evident by the sight ceasing to move erratically, then 'caging' moving back to 'centre point/aiming point'. A second missile is then fired whilst TrackIR is paused, sight picture guided using HOTAS, missile follows command guidance. Midflight, TrackIR is resumed (evident by the sight moving erratically once more), missile continues to follow 'centre point/aiming point' and disregards TrackIR inputs. TIR ATGM sight.trk
