darkman222 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I was wondering if there was a quicker way to change the ground weapon in the F16. Like the missile step button long press for air-to-air missiles. But for air to ground I have to grab the mouse and klick the OSB buttons on the MFD in front. Or is it just the way it is? Missile step in that case will just change between CCRP and CCIP. Long press does not do anything.
Solution Florence201 Posted August 20, 2021 Solution Posted August 20, 2021 It’s that way as A-A is more frantic and you have less time to move to MFDs 1 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Hulkbust44 Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 ^exactly, and IRL you really don't want access to A/G munitions completely by HOTAS. (In the case of the Hawg you have multiple deliberate steps) any A/G engagement would be planned enough for you to have plenty of time to set up the jet. Even in CAS you have a check-in phase with the JTAC, game plan, and 9-line. While doing so you would be in auto pilot not touching the controls. During that setup phase you *don't* want to be required to put your hands on the stick.Mobius708
TobiasA Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) Go A-G master mode, put the HSD to one of the MFD's. Cycle with DMS left / right. This will be a nice replacement for the NAV mode in both AA and AG modes. Then press MRM override. You got AA mode and can react quickly to upcoming A-A threats. If you cancel the override, you fall back to the AG mode. This will provide a fast switch between AA and AG. I usually do so in the target for every mission which includes AG.
