conura Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Hey all, I started learning the F-14 this weekend and I seem to be having a few problems. The first is that on the RIO startup mission, I think there's an issue - the mission starts and nothing happens. Perhaps a broken trigger? The second is that none of my Jester callouts seem to be happening. For example during the startup tutorial it implies I should hear Jester say 'ready to start engines', but he says nothing - just sits in silence. In addition I get no airspeed callouts on takeoff (and the tutorial suggested he'd call out airspeed). I looked into the options and made sure the callouts checkbox is ticked, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm running the latest beta, but mainly a single player user - would I be better off switching to the stable version perhaps? Thanks again, and thanks for recreating such a beautiful aircraft (Viggen was also one of my favourites). Can hardly wait for your Eurofighter.

If you mean the tutorial, the instructor sure likes to take his time. For me it was, like, ten seconds before he opened his mouth. Maybe has something to do with loading the level. You may try waiting a little and switching to the rear seat by yourself before you're asked to do so, maybe it will force the script to the next step. 2. Not sure about the tutorial, but I ignore Jester on startup. As far as the pilot is concerned Jester only needs to enable hydraulic cooling, arm the seat and close the canopy, in my practice none of that requires the pilot to wait for him. After that he proceeds with INS alignment and entering waypoints. Not sure about the callouts, maybe he only warns when you approach the border of the flight envelope, so if he's silent then maybe you're OK. I'm also on open beta.
unlikely_spider Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 (edited) Are all of your radios on, and ICS switch? Not sure if those matter with Jester, but those are some of the first things I always do in the cockpit. Edited August 28, 2021 by unlikely_spider Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

Perhaps a broken trigger? It starts after the two aircraft take off and climb out. Just wait a bit. BFM callouts are working but I did not hear landing callouts either. btw: Both beta and stable are the same verison atm. Lt_Jaeger Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Airspeed callouts only happen during BFM, if merged. During landing he will give you alt calls, but nothing during take offs. For the Rio tutorial, as above said, you have to wait for the two Tomcat to take off. If you give jester the startup command, he will do the ICS check, tell you to start the engines and after he is done with his shit to be ready to taxi. Not very talkative during startup..... which will change to a degree during flight, where you sometimes will consider to turn off the ICS. You can do also a assisted startup, where he talks you thru the checklist. I did that a lot in the beginning to not forget anything. Nothing you would do for a quick hop though.
conura Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 Thanks for this guys and also sorry for the delay - you're all entirely correct and you've solved my issues. Tutorial issue too
MicroShket Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I don't want to create another topic for my question. Does Jester make callouts or check during carrier landing? In carrier landing tutorial mission he makes "check-list" (wings, gears, flaps, etc.). Every time I make an approach in Case I single missions Jester is deadly silent, only commenting wire/bolter. Is it correct? Спойлер ASRock X570, Ryzen 9 3900X, Kingston HyperX 64GB 3200 MHz, XFX RX6900XT MERC 319 16GB, SSD for DCS - Patriot P210 2048GB, HP Reverb G2. The pilot will read the relevant items out loud via the intercomm and the RIO will just check them (e.g. looking at the wings and confirming they are indeed foward) without saying anything unless of course something is off, like the wings not being forward. 1 i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD
