TheCrysinator Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Hello, I took a hit today from a manpad that killed one turbine (maybe both?) and turned my Hind into a flying torch. Due to the loss of electrical power I got no fire warning and the extinguishers didn't seem work. In the end I managed to safely autorotate to the ground but I burned up shortly afterwards. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? Is this behaviour intentional or due to EA? - Crysinator
Gumbie Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Not sure if those systems are working correctly due to the Hind not being completed a 100% yet. With that said I am sure that the fire extinguishers don't need Electrical power so losing the Turbines should not have caused the issue but the suppression system could have been knocked out also due part of it being located in the same area. This is per speculation on my part because I am not a 100% sure on how the system where implemented and locations. But I am sure that we are missing a far amount of systems and things in the Hind an this could have been part of it maybe someone can give you the correct response this is just my opinion from what time I have be playing with the Hind.
admiki Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 With about 100+ hours I had only one instance where extinguishers actually did put out a fire. Best course of action is to shut off the fuel 2 1
TheCrysinator Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Okay thank you for the input. That confirms my suspicion that that it's not necessarily my fault. While damage to the system is somewhat likely I'd expect some sort of indication that the system failed e.g. by open circuit. However that is merely my opinion.Gesendet von meinem HD1913 mit Tapatalk

TheCrysinator Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 I've conducted some more tests in a somewhat controlled environment (set engine fire in the missions editor). In the cases where I managed to safely autorotate to the ground I immediately died afterwards due to the spreading fire.Even if the fuel is cut immediately the turbines will ignite again and again. Sometimes one of them stays out to the ground but there was always at least one turbine that kept burning after the second extinguisher is fired.
admiki Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 You need to shut down the valves, not fuel cut off levers
