Brazo Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Hi all Just signed up. Over 100 hours in the hornet so I just about know the basics (lol) but struggling in Mosquito. I can successfully cold start the Mossie every time in the training module and understand the process. If I try and cold start the Mossie on say the Channel Map when I press the push to talk button or use the keyboard shortcut I get a clicking noise register when I push to talk but the text options on upper right hand side of screen do not appear. They are not greyed out they just don’t appear. So I can’t prime the engine and start the plane. Any thoughts!
Art-J Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 First thing to check - Is your airbase you want to take off from assigned to the same coalition colour as your airplane in the mission editor (ie. "blue" airplane on "blue" airbase)? It must be, otherwise there will be no response either from ATC or from ground crew. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Doc3908 Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 I have the same problem. I can talk to the ATC, but I can't talk to ground to request engine priming. The "Ground" option is grayed out and no one responds. First encountered this problem on the Clash of Wings server, but then I created a mission in ME and made sure that the airport is blue (like the Mossie). I have easy comms enabled for the stand alone missions, and even then I made sure the proper airport freqs are entered. Eventually, out of frustration, I hit autostart and all of a sudden the ground service comms are working...

Yes I made the airbase blue but this isn’t a case of greyed out comms it’s no comms text at all. The button when pushed registers a sound like pressing the button on an object with no power just a click. Yes I’ve enabled the power and even the magnetos but unlike training module I just get nothing. I’d love some greyed out text lol!
Krupi Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) Have you opened the window? To get the comms menu up you first need to open the portside window. As far as I am aware this is the first module that requires this step. Art-J Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Also, do you use easy comms option or not? In the other thread, I saw a post suggesting that weird things happen when using easy comms in the Mossie (tutorial missions use separate difficulty settings than global ones, so they cannot be used for comparison with your own quick generated missions). Might be worth testing. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Oddly the tutorial won’t progress unless you actually mouse click the window as opposed to opening it using a mapped button but tutorial will allow other elements to be mapped to a control and progress. 47 minutes ago, Art-J said: Also, do you use easy comms option or not? Might be worth testing. Thankyou. I press a mapped button or the keyboard command (right alt and # I think) for comms push to talk and then the menu usually pops up. I do that with hornet all the time with no issues. On the Mossie it seems like I’m pushing a button which clicks but nothing happen almost like I’ve forgotten to turn electrics on first.
Art-J Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) ^ It seems this mission gets stuck easily at various stages (not all of them though!) if things are not mouse-clicked but activated by bound HOTAS buttons, switches and axes... That's odd, because Suntsag said he programmed the mission so the triggers are dependent on aircraft systems status - thus it shouldn't matter what control is used to open the window for example. But it does matter for whatever reason. Fortunately, the rest of tutorial missions are less picky. Doc3908 Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 In my case, it was the window. I actually knew the window needs to be opened to talk to ground, but for whatever reason I didn't realize that "open" mean pulling it back. It worked afterwards, although the "Ground" menu item is still greyed out. Perhaps then can turn it white after the window is pulled back - it will be a visual cue that you can now talk to ground. Thanks everyone, much appreciated!!! Doc

I haven't fiddled with the left hand side radio but did compare its 'state' to the one in the training mission and no changes to note in switch position. I've circled the button that 'clicks' or depresses when I hit push to talk %5Burl=https%3A//ibb.co/tpqxbfp%5Dhttps://i.ibb.co/RT3BCnT/Mosquito.jpg%5B/url%5D

Brazo Posted September 22, 2021 Author Posted September 22, 2021 Ok well it’s now working:) I don’t know if it was the hot fix or what Art J suggested above but it’s magically fixed and I now have comms and can cold start the Mossie! Thanks everyone for your suggestions
