[CHK] 802AKG MIL use causes loss of basic autopilot in missile?

Hello,

Its late and I will upload a track tomorrow, but I tried to use the MIL 802AKG and there was one major bug and one other odd thing.

First, this is per the Chuck manual, but MIL handoff is supposed to happen ~20nm? it happened at 10.

Second, the minute I touched the MIL designator with the TDC, it seems like the autopilot stops trying to maintain altitude/attitude and the missile goes ballistic and nose dives into the ground.

I will upload my trk file tomorrow and links to my twitch stream showing what happened.

Handoff occurs at 20km (10.7 NM) in COO/DIR modes or 2 km (1.1 NM) prior to the last route point in MAN mode.

You likely didn't read far enough into Chuck's guide or misremembered.

I have found a different issue with the missile. Some time after lunch but before the 20km MITL activation, I manually switch to MITL to increase the seeker contrast (which for some reason is all the way down at -7) so I didn't have to bother with it in the 30s or so of terminal guidance. I switch back to CRS after I have fiddled with the contrast.

When the 20km MITL activation is up, the missile either self-destructs or disappears.

@uboats I just wanted to update you, here is my twitch stream highlight from when I tried using the 802AKG last week, but I won't be able to upload the trk files until I get my internet repaired after my landlord accidentally cut my cable while trimming a tree... 😤.

The 802 had a PP1 in the f10 map, and was launched from there. This happened every other time except the first launch if you want to watch the rest of the stream replay. For this highlighted clip, as soon as I touched the TDC, it would try to dive to the left and I had to fight it via TDC commands, so even when it looks like its roughly flying ahead, its me "driving it" to keep it there. After I got it to lock onto an object, it flew ok from there.

Hope this is something to work with until I can upload the track.

Hi

I tested it in the latest ob version according to your method.

But no problems were found in the video.

I analyzed the video.

It is found that after you control the missile, the TDC cursor of your rocker seems to be making an input in the lower left corner all the time.

I suspect there is a problem with your operating device. You can try to add a dead band to the axis of your TDC cursor.

Then see if the problem is solved.

FYI, I checked the inputs and there were no issues with the TDC axis's. If you watched the rest of the stream, you will see I did check them. After the first missile, there was clearly some sort of issue that I could not duplicate that might be related, but it cleared itself for reasons unknown. Insofar as TDC inputs, it is only the MIL that seems to have an issue - TDC use for radar or hud designation = no problems at all and I even checked the bindings.

The input you see in the video clip is the "un-commanded" down and left response I mentioned in my second post. It occurred with every launch even after the first binding check seemed to self resolve.

Can you provide Trk files? I want to reproduce your situation on my computer

Besides, I need you to try a way

Withdraw your throttle and Stick (unplug the USB interface)

Then operate with the keyboard to see if there are still problems in the video.

I will update with track files after my net gets repaired.

Your link won't load on the airport wifi, so I won't be able to reference it.

The behavior of the Man In the Loop (MIL) TDC commands should be that after the link becomes live, moving the TDC should move the small center cross and then return to center after no more input from TDC. This is how you adjust the course of the missile until you get the center cross hair on the target, and then designate for it to lock onto the object.

At detection of first input from TDC, it has un-commanded down and left and I have to use "up" and "right" to override it to keep the missile flying approximately in same direction. It is completely possible it is unique to my install, but I have no idea why. Once my net is restored, I will also be doing a local file verification via Steam and try again.

I have a NXT Premium and TWCS throttle in a powered USB hub. I checked in Windows after this stream just to double check there was no phantom inputs coming from TWCS that just wasn't showing in game.

On a complete "gut-hunch," I wonder if it has something to do with the TDC sensitivity adjustment in the module special settings menu.

Additionally, I have used this weapon before without issue, but since the patch in July with the other 802AK and AKG bugs, I haven't tried using them since.

I can confirm you are doing the same as he is doing, but, you don't have the issue he is reporting.

well.....Maybe we can only wait for the Trk file to see what problems can be reflected.

I suggest that only use the keyboard after removing the external device to eliminate possible input problems.
