everest101 Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Does DCS game need to be reinstalled from scratch to avoid or reduce incidence of game crashes when changing the PC's GPU card? Generally speaking, would it be a good practice to re-install DCS after a GPU change? Just wondering about that since changing from a Radeon RX5700XT to a NVidia RTX3080Ti, exploring new GPU OC for high VR FPS's and running into several game crashes. MOBO/MSI X570-A PRO/PCIe 4. CPU/AMD RYZEN 9 3900X (12 CORE), RAM/DDR4-32 GB (3200MHZ with XMP activated on the MOBO), GPU/EVGA-RTX 3080Ti, HMD/PIMAX Crystal, HOTAS/Thrustmaster Cougar
silverdevil Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 i would not think you would need to reinstall DCS. however keep in mind that OC (CPU, GPU, XMP) including factory, may cause issues with game crashes. You already have one of the most powerful video cards available, why risk such an expensive card by overclocking it? Absolutely not necessary. Download latest driver and have it ready.Boot into safe mode and remove old driver with DDU (Google for download). Reboot, safe mode again, install latest driver and then reboot into normal Windows.Delete metashaders and fxo folders from DCS folders in Saved Games before you start DCS.DCS will spend some time rebuilding the first time.Cheers!
