Perhaps the simple answer is...  I have too much free time on my hands..... 

Just finished reading the book, so I picked up the Syria map and Raven One Campaign from the DCS shop.  Things like this book collab are what make DCS even better.  Pretty cool.

Here's my budget sim pit.  I put everything together for under $1500, and I mean everything.  I started with nothing, not even a desk.  The only thing not included in the budget are the airplane (and Super Maxxx) models.

Yes, everything you see in the pic minus the models and the GS coffee mug.

Raven One takes place on the Persian Gulf map though.
