Mik75 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 (edited) Hi there! I recently got a new machine (AMD 5600X, 32 GB 3200MHz RAM, RTX 3060Ti 8GB, 2TB SSD Samsung 970, Win 11), and I still use my old 1080p BenQ monitor, which will be the next upgrade, probably in 2 or 3 months. My graphic settings give me 70-110fps in the Hornet, and the sim never looked better for me. Except for the tearing. I haven't selected V-sync in game, and haven't chosen anything, related to V-sync, in the Nvidia control panel. Which settings would you recommend, to get rid of the tearing, while keeping the sim smooth and the fps high? Thx a lot in advance for your help! Boosterdog Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 I use a 60 hz monitor with no display exports. I set vsync in the Nvidia control panel and only use the standard version of vsync (not fast or adaptive) and set the "full Screen" option in game. The vsync option from the games system menu appears seems to operate in the Windows mode only (ie the mode the game defaults to if "full screen" isnt ticked). Others will probably have their own preferences. On the application exe I also disable full screen optimisations. Love to tell you why but I cant remember (so probably didnt know in the first place). Currently, for me at least, the game is reliably starting in full screen mode. Alt Enter switches between modes if you are so inclined. Full screen appears to provide a slightly smoother experience over the in-game vysyned windowed. 1 MSI Tomahawk X570 Mobo, Ryzen 5600X undervolted on Artic Freezer E34 Cooler, RTX3080 FE, 32GB (2x16GB Dual Ranked) GSkil 3600 CL16 Trident Neo RAM, 2X 4th Gen M2 SSDs, Corsair RM850x PSU, Lancool 215 Case. Glide Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 The ingame vsync is the most efficient. You can also try FAST in the Nvidia control panel. 1080p is still an excellent resolution. I run mine at 1080p on my 60hz 4k monitor. I can get 4k running smooth as silk, but my eyes like 1080p better. 1
Mik75 Posted March 24, 2022 Author Posted March 24, 2022 Ok. Thx guys. I'll give in game and Nvidia Vsync (fast?) a go. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Greets, Michael
Mik75 Posted March 24, 2022 Author Posted March 24, 2022 (edited) So, I switched V-sync to fast in the Nvidia control panel, and it works perfectly. I even got a slight boost in fps, and the tearing is completely gone. The whole sim feels smoother now. The only "issue" I've noticed, is that the game runs in full screen now, even though that's not selected in game. I can't Alt Tab into different programs anymore, or go to my desktop... Glide Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 That's by design. Try CTRL-ALT-DEL and launch task manager. This will get you to the desktop while the sim is running. 1

Before running DCS leave at least one window open. Can be anything: explorer folder, some config panel. That'll let you alt-tab no problem. 2 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Песочек Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Dont use V-syns in DCS settings. It works worse that V-sync in Nvidia panel. I recommend you to use Nvidia Advanced V-sync: If your frame rate > frame rate of monitor, then V-sync is on and picture are smooth. But if you frame rate less that frame rate of monitor, then V-sync are disabled. I have troubles with V-sync too before i have understand how it works. Default V-sync in DCS not very good variant because it not allow intermediate fps: if your fps <60 in become 30. For this reason use only nvidia advanced V-sync. And you get tearing which is the one and only reason to use vsynch. I would not like that option. _Hoss Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 My LG 32" monitor is G-Sync compatible and I'm running a 3080ti, I use G-sync and nothing else. When I had an inferior VGA I used the in game v-sync and and told nvidia to not to use v-sync or triple buffering. Both work great to stop screen tearing. I get 50 to 70 fps in the Wolfpack campaign, using the full settings recommended by Reflected, if your computer can handle it. My monitor is 164fps max with the correct video card and cable.
