On a completely unrelated note, but this part find I very funny:

The aircraft is not in the McKinley Climatic Laboratory on the base, which is designed to simulate nearly every possible weather condition on Earth.

Of course they cannot say where it is! It's a classified information. :D

Yes and Internet wannabes trashing a plane they have never seen, heard, touched, have no real verifiable information about ...

Well that is real sexy too!

where are the wheels/tires ?:)

After watching this video

I assume they removed the tires to secure the aircraft

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Oh, I see, they were testing the F-35Bs STOVL system in the extreme temperature to see if the system would seize. That makes sense.

The arrival of the UK’S first F35 Lighting II Stealth Fighter Aircraft at Edward’s AFB America on the 13th Jan 2015. The 17 (Reserve) Squadron has begun operational testing of the UK’s first F-35B, 100 years after the unit was first established. The squadron, which was first formed in 1915, will be responsible for all the test and evaluation of the UK’s first F-35 Lightning II. The aircraft, known as BK-1, is stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California and will be operated under UK regulations. Personnel from 17 ® Sqn, which is made up of engineers and pilots from the RAF and Royal Navy, will fly and maintain the jets independently from their US colleagues. This is an important step towards the UK developing its Joint Strike Fighter capability.

Watching its movements relative to the clouds behind it - there was either a lot of turbulence, or that aircraft is very twitchy in pitch.

Cheers.

I wonder how many negative news articles we can find about the Apache AH mk1, F-16, F-15, F-18 etc when they where being introduced?

Bad video stabilization. Not even remotely like an aircraft pitching.

Except that the clouds behind are stabilised - the aircraft is jiggling in pitch, which might just be an AP reacting to turbulence, but is happening.

Cheers.

Uhummmmmm...

A. Where is the rest of the video? I mean that's only about 5 minutes long...

Or was that it?

B. Do they actually plan to drop weapons from that cute little airplane?

I do not know, you would have to contact the people that uploaded the video, I simply shared it here.

:smartass: Nah, The USAF just wants to fly it around to show off to the countries that can't afford it. Why would they put weapons on a weapons systems? Why would they use it in combat?

I don't know, that is what I was wondering.

Reading the book "Hellfire" by Ed Macy, he seem to portray that the media in the UK was continuously saying how over price the AH1 was ect. I never read does articles and I do not know how to find them.

Also I hear how much the F-15 created controversy because of it development cost. But again, I do not know how to find or read archive news articles from when that aircraft was first being introduce.
