Thx for your answers, guys. This is a clean install, once repaired as suggested. I've got Tacview, other than that no plugins or mods are installed.

You do have quite a few sound errors though. I would check AV as Rudel says, and do a repair after that, as others have suggested.

If I were you, I would get Skatezilla's app. Much easier to repair and kill DCS if it hangs. It does happen from time to time for my self.
Cheers!

Ok. I'll check Microsoft Defender. That's the only Anti virus I'm using.

Thx for the tip with the tool.

This file can´t be found on my drive... very strange.

Your game seems to be given a small 4GB of pagefile. You might want to increase that manually. I don't usually advise this as long as I don't see the "E_OUTOFMEMORY" error in logs, but since there is apparently no other symptom in your log, that's worth a shot.

Before donig this, ensure you have enough free space in your pagefile drive (whch should be your fastest drive by default). Around 50 GB of free space will do.

Set your pagefile this way:

  • min size: 32768 (32 GB)
  • max size: 32768 (32 GB)

https://mcci.com/support/guides/how-to-change-the-windows-pagefile-size/

I´ve changed it to 32GB, as you suggested. The drive is an M.2 SSD, Samsung Evo 970. I have 32GB of phyiscal RAM installed, which peaks out at 65% of uasge, according to my analysis tool. But we´ll see if that makes any diffference...

I´ve changed the page file to 32 GB, looked for the missing sound file, couldn´t find it, checked the settings in MS Defender, but unfortunately, the same again:

I land at Batumi, shutdown the engines, and when I want to switch to the RIO, the game freezes.

The new log shows the same missing sound files...

Edit: I installed the suggested Updater Utility and I´m doing another repair right now...

I've opened a support ticket with ED as well. It's really a strange one... 🤷🏻‍♂️😉

And another freeze, this time after loading a situation has just been finished. Again, some strange sound error... Oh my...

DCS has always been super stable for me. But it´s been pretty slow on my old machine. Now it runs super smooth on my new computer, but is not stable anymore...

I use the same antivirus and after some cases of false positives, I opted to exclude the DCS folders from the Antivirus action, like this (sorry, spanish windows, but should be very similar in english):

Hope you get the problem solved.

Thx a lot! I did that, I added DCS to the exclusions. I also reinstalled the Realtek sound driver, but still no luck. Shutting down, jumping to the RIO seat, and the game freezed, again with a new error code, again concerning sound...

Could it be a hardware related issue? Something like bad RAM? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Doesnt seem likely, errors caused by bad RAM are more random and usually happen in more than one software and on different circumstances.

Can you attach the mission?

I'd like to try it out on my DCS ... it's been quite a while since I last flew the Tomcat, but on this last log of yours the error happens almost barely less than a minute into the mission ... I'd like to see if it generates the same errors on my dcs.log 👍

Edit: Also, can you retry your mission but with voice chat disabled?

It doesn't happen with a specific mission. It also happened directly after loading a training mission. Most of the times, I can trigger it by shutting down the engines, and after that, jumping into the RIO seat.

Ok, as I mentioned at the beginning of the thread, I've checked the system with several benchmarks and stress tests. It's 2 weeks old now, and there's nothing on it yet, other than DCS. I've just seen, that there's a new BIOS version for my B550 mainboard. I'll definitely update it anytime soon. Isn't it strange, that these errors are caused by sound files that I can't manually find on my machine?

I don't think it's your system.
You mention shutting down your engines, that's interesting, because some of the errors are related to engine sound.
You might want to check in the Heatblur forum.

I can definitely trigger it almost 100% by shutting down the engines. I can jump to the the outside views without problems, but it seems that as soon as I hit the "2" key for the RIO seat, the sim freezes.

That wouldn't be a huge issue, but since the system is completely new, I'm a bit concerned that this might be caused by some hardware issue. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'll check the Heatblur forum for sure. Thx a lot!

I see I reason why your new system should have anything with missing or corrupt sound files, unless the AV troll did something. But you did exclude the DCS folders and ran a repair after just in case?
Myself have not excluded anything, and I use the same AV.

Yes. I've excluded DCS and ran several repairs now. But still these strange sound errors appear. I've just posted in the F-14 forum...

Well that's strange, I can't even guess what could cause such a problem...

Hope you will be able to solve it ASAP.

Well, it's not a huge issue. In flight, the RIO position doesn't seem to cause any problems. I'd just like to rule out any possible hardware or configuration issues with my new system in the first place. The F-14 is so much fun, I just can't stop flying it. 😃👏🏻

The ED support just got back to me. They suggest, not turning on MSAA and SSAA at the same time, which I have (looks absolutely marvelous), plus increasing the size of the page file, which I already did, thanks to your suggestions.

So, I'll try experimenting with different AA settings. Which would you recommend (I run a RTX 3060Ti 8GB @ 1080p) for nice clean look AND good performance? Right now, according to the log file, I get an average of 95 fps.

My advice would be to play around with the grafic settings and see what satisfies you the most (I'm not an RTX owner so i dunno).

Maybe watch some guides about the grafic settings and see what is best for you.

Yeah. I watched the tutorial by Spudknocker, his in game graphics are pretty nice. And he uses MSAA and SSAA simultaneously. 🤷🏻‍♂️😉

Maybe in his video he used an older version of DCS that didn't have this issue. :dunno:

I'll definitely try turning SSAA off tonight. And then I'll see if that is the solution to the problem.

So, with SSAA disabled, I get 14-16 fps more in average, but still the same freeze after shutdown, again with sound errors...

Not sure why they recommended that, when the log says "engine sound missing", and it crashes when you shut down the engines.

According to them,  running MSAA and SSAA together could potentially cause any sort of strange issues.

The sound errors are pretty much negligible. The ones from "\speech\eng\common\..." are missing (as in not implemented) ED encrypted sound files from sounds.edc folder - so you won't find them with that name. The "invalid source_params(..." are HB module bugs but neither are responsible for the freezes.

Ok, interesting. So what do you think could be the cause of the freezes?
