We can use the AI B-52s, along with the Mig-21s and F-4s, to create exciting new missions as well as recreation of actual military campaigns in the Viet Nam war. MFT 1

All of them, probably not — that would require something along the lines of 4× the size of any of the terrains we have now, with detail all over rather than along just a narrow corridor. I'm not saying we should, but we could a get a dozen F-4 based maps and have none of them be in Asia. And the F-4 is not the only Vietnam asset in DCS either. My feeling is they are building towards a Vietnam scenario. In my way of thinking, they need to find a home for these assets, and not having a Vietnam map leaves a pretty big hole in DCS World. Edited April 16, 2022 by Callsign112 1

I think the same could be said about Iraq or Afghanistan. The problem is, at least partially, real wars happen over large areas. DCS maps aren't big enough to cover the major wars that the modules participated in. I'd absolutely welcome a Vietnam map, but I'm not sure if it's realistic. The best hope is that Razbam's Falklands map is enormous. They're hinting that it will be. If it truly dwarfs all other maps, then maybe we could take another look at including historical conflicts. Callsign112 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Yeah I would say that the map technology being used for DCS World is improving, but historical conflicts are what DCS World is all about really. But you make a good point because we are not only limited by small maps/too few areas, we are also extremely limited by the number of high quality assets available. 1

And ED also repeatedly stated that it is building a Digital combat simulator. Here's what we know, Vietnam is a place, a war happened there that used a lot of aircraft/tanks/ships, we already have/will have a number of assets relevant to that conflict in DCS World, and ED is in the business of simulating this type of scenario,... So it is reasonable to guess that a map of Vietnam is a possibility. I was more just pointing to the number of relevant assets that seem to be building up that's all. 1
