Fulgrim Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Shouldn't this tank be damaged after a close impact? It was intact... 1
Frederf Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Can you show the health bar after that? Without that info it's impossible to see partial damage visually. That is a rather distant impact for total destruction at least in DCS terms. 1

That's like... 10 feet? If a 500lbs bomb cannot kill something 10ft away I need to reconsider my beliefs...
Tholozor Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Did you change the fuze setting at all? By default JDAMs start with it set to AIR (as-if it has the DSU-33 airburst sensor installed); try setting it to GND if not. Frederf Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 I don't know if the DCS GBU-38s have any variable fuzing. It might depend on the dropping platform. In any case, the terminal effects of bombs on armored vehicles in DCS is an oft-discussed topic. I don't have detailed knowledge as to the realism except to know I don't know. For "fun" here is a video of a bunch of guys that received the same warhead quite close to their position without casualties. I don't know the distance and obviously there is a lot of hard, rocky planet helping them but it's close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSzBCgbicbA
Ignition Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 I think irl that impact should damage (severely) the right track rendering the vehicle unable to move. 2
GrEaSeLiTeNiN Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 I thought ‘splash damage’ was already improved in DCS, I could be mistaken though. Or maybe it’s partially fixed. There was a splash damage mod some time ago and Liberation has a splash damage option. gmangnall Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Splash damage is ludicrous in DCS - maybe not all that easy to properly fix but it needs to be improved without relying on a mod.
