Is the TADS FLIR having AGC always on also related? Because I heard that's not how the real apache is at all and I couldn't find any setting to turn that off either. Looking at the sky, suddenly the ground is black. You twiddle the knobs. You look at the ground, suddenly the ground is white. You twiddle the knobs. You zoom in, it's different again. You twiddle the knobs. It's annoying. Any given temperature should come back as a pixel intensity based on the level and gain knobs, not relative to anything else.

ACM is a button press in the front seat, on the TDU bezel under ACM. If ACM is turned on in the front seat, ACM will be boxed on the TDU screen.

Im willing to bet ACM is still WIP since the entire FLIR system in DCS is still WIP.

Just wondering if there is any progress on this? The bug report is 6 months old, and this "feature" wasn't implemented at launch, it's been added (thus making the FLIR significantly worse) in an update. I know ED hate rolling back code, but even if we knew how to switch this off in lua it would be a good stopgap until the switches in the cockpit are implemented.

To pick up the thread again here, what is the progress of the ACM fix? Is there an improvement coming in the foreseeable future?

Background is that yesterday on a night mission we had massive problems with the PNVS and its FLIR settings. We had to spend some time before landing getting the right setting for a reasonably good image, and even then it went completely black 10ft before touchdown.

Is there a problem with the contrasts in general or is it still in development? Do you need additional trk files?

It's clearly still WIP, and in the last few patches it appears they may have been some slight alteration. It's also variable by which map you use quite how bad this effect is. What I'm not sure I understand if why ED have implemented a WIP feature that mostly makes the system worse, when it was working fine at release. The code for FLIR with no ACM clearly exists (in the initially released module) so all we need is a single switch to work (or even a lua line to edit) and it should be easy to get it back in the current working OB. That would give ED as long as they wanted to work on it.

For me to understand, what does this have to do with the different maps?

No idea, other than that if you observe the behaviour there appears that the amount of brightness change in the FLIR image when you look up and down varies based on which map you are on, even with identical weather set. Why that would be the case I have no idea.
