Blaze1 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 This is a slight nitpick considering the ECM functions in DCS are still being developed and may have already been mentioned before. My understanding is that there are two slightly different ECM control panels (both called C-9492B) associated with the AN/ALQ-131 and AN/ALQ-184 and depending on the jammer pod loaded, a specific control panel must be installed in the cockpit. I've included a picture showing the two different control panels: The installed panel is associated with the AN/ALQ-184, while the panel at the bottom is used in conjunction with the AN/ALQ-131. As can be seen, the difference between the panels is merely the pushbuttons legends, which are representative of functions and status' unique to each pod. 5
Frederf Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 That would be really cool for the 8 buttons to change based on ALQ-131 v ALQ-184 loaded and is within the sim's capability. 3
Blaze1 Posted July 25, 2022 Author Posted July 25, 2022 It would make a nice touch even if purely visual. 1
Harker Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Nice one. Should definitely be doable, since other modules, such as the Harrier and M-2000 have cockpit elements that can be toggled. Here, it can be tied to the selected pod instead of a user option and the change is much easier, because the only thing that needs to change is the textures. 1 The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Northstar98 Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 (edited) Why is this not planned? If it's accurate to the aircraft and we're getting both AN/ALQ-131 and AN/ALQ-184 (which are both marked as completed on the roadmap), then this should absolutely be a thing. 3rd parties do the same thing, even for things that require new 3D models (such as the LANTIRN controls on the Tomcat, heck even ED did it for the R-60 controls on the Hind), as Harker said, here it's even simpler - you're just changing the texture on the buttons.
