I have "hear like in helmet" selected, everything else default in DCS, and win Sound Settings at 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000hz. I tried with hear like helmet deselected, but same issue persists. Mine sounds exactly the same as in the video.

The same engine sound problem, with the cabin closed the sound is almost null.

I clarify that the loss of sound is only from the engine, the rest of the switches and avios work ok

I reverted to initial F1 release (2.7.16.27869) then I went back to current OB (2.7.16.28157). I hear no difference. Tested with "hear like in helmet" enable and disabled.

This definitely appears to be a user specific bug. The noise difference is very apparent.

Can someone please record the "new" sound from external view, close to the exhasut?

My biggest problem is inside the cockpit. The sound is extremely low and it is only on the left side. The right side has no sound. Outside looks normal. Youtube is still processing the HD video.

@ThorBrasil Can you please attach your dcs.log file?

This sound change happened in patch 2.7.16.28111. The Release Patch (2.7.16.27869 Open Beta) worked normally.

same problem following a reinstallation of DCS WORLD + modules, I no longer have the high-pitched sound when the reactor turbine is launched and no longer the start-up of the park group, I liked it, how to find it? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the module, made a repair. That's what happens :

Sorry for the writing

Many thanks. It sounds like a totally different aircraft engine! If somebody can identify which aircraft this engine sound comes from, it might help us understand what's going on.

Could that be the Su-25T?

Hello @Flappie,

I never heard the sound in your example. I started my OB installation after the first patch came out, so I directly went to that version plus the hotfix afterwards. As OB and stable are currently the same, sound is the same, but not the one in your F1 example.

trk, logs and autoupdater logs attached, showing my installation history, hope this helps.

See my video on the previous page. It goes from idle to full AB to idle. You can also see the mighty heat blur.

Thanks, I had missed videos on the first page.

Can someone affected by this bug tell me if his/her F1 Sounds.edc folder is the same as mine?

I also have exactly the same folder size and structure. My f1 sounds the same as in the problematic video except my sound is not focused more on the left side.

Hello,

i also uploaded a video, note this is "hear in helmet" on. I always have it on with every other plane, otherwise i cant hear SRS and stuff.

The engine is very very silent. You can compare it to the warning horn at 1:10 which is way more louder

As I was reading this thread, I had an idea: could your issue be caused by an antivirus/anti-malware?

Please all, add the DCS core game files as an exception in your antivirus/antimalware software, then test again.

(path example: "C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/")

sounds.edc details

Here my details of the sounds.edc folder, same for stable version.

I guess, it will not help to delete / rename the folder and run a repair, cause other re-installed the module and this didn't change.

Lets assume size of the correct and the faulty sounds is the same, is there a specific file, which we could check (version details or something like this)?

As for the antivirus. I use windows defender and have a exception defined for DCS game folders and dcs saved games foldler since ages  😉

Edit:

Renamed the original folder to "Sounds.edc_test" and than did a repair, autoupdater log attached. New folder "Sounds.edc" has been created but nothing changed regarding the details:

compare old and repaired folder

If it were antivirus all other modules would have problems. This problem only occurs on MF1.

Actually, some modules components can sometimes be mistakenly considered like a virus. Not necessarily the whole game. See link in my previous post.

Ok, so we all have the same sound files, and some of you have a DCS exception to their AV software. Two dead-ends, but at least we know where not to look for.

I set the DCS world as exception in Windows defender(windows 11 64x). No difference. Still abnormal and missing sounds.

I don't think that's just F1 issue. I had almost no sound with a full AB in the Hornet today. That's something more general I think (though I do have the F1).
