Hi guys.  Is it me or are the Mk-20's useless in this campaign?  Maybe I'm not dropping them right or setting them up right but they don't seem to do anything.  I've tried various burst heights but no difference.  Using mainly CCRP.  Strange.

What exactly is going wrong? "They don't seem to do anything"--as in, they don't release, they don't detonate, they detonate but do no damage, or something else?

Have you tried replicating the issues you're encountering in a more controlled environment, say, on a range somewhere?

I'm not aware of any issues, last time I used them all was OK.  I don't tend to use CCRP for Mk20s though, I often use CCIP and release in a dive with a lower burst height for a more focused concentration of munitions.

Hmmmmmm...well, from watching Tacview, they release fine, Tacview shows the bomblets coming out, they hit and.....no damage.  Dropped right on top of a clump of trucks and nothing.  Have not tried them in a range type mission.  Guess I'll have to set that up just out of curiosity.  Have not tried in CCIP either.  CCRP as far as I can remember.  I'm flying mission 13B now and going low doesn't seem like a very good idea.  Thanks guys.  Oh yeah, I usually set a burst height of 900-1200 feet.  Thanks.

To be fair the cluster modelling in DCS needs a bit of work, its usually the frag pattern that causes the issue, so none of the bomblets actually hit, and there's no proper splash damage either.  I find the more you can concentrate your dispersal the better, so lower release and burst height and even better, drop in pairs.

If we are talking about Mission 12, I can confirm that. Dropped auto, TacView shows accurate hit, but visually throught FLIR, the bomblets seem to disperse and explode way higher, leaving behind only small smoke puffs after the sparkle effect. Neither of the two rocfket launchers got damaged, first burst height was 1500 (they say it's the only working height), then tried it with HT 700. Same (no) effect...

Just tested on a BMP-3 with VT fuse set at height of 500...dropped a pair of Mk-20 and got a solid kill.  Still think the cluster modelling needs some work but it does work well enough on the tests I've done..think density of bomblets is the answer

The MK-20 is super problematic in DCS. The pattern didn't get any love in comparison to 87 so the pattern is bad and you need to be lacky rather than accurate. In long mission it can be frustrating to fail the objective even when the aiming and drop were good. I had to re fly missions requiring MK-20 more than once when performing the same bombing procedures. Sometime it done 0 damage and sometime it destroyed the targets.
