Vortex225 Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 I am also having the same issue with CBU-97s, both in CCIP and CCRP. It's almost as if they would be on-target if it weren't for the submunition separation and parachute phase, which modifies the normal trajectory below the burst altitude. Other bombs seem to be working great with CCIP and CCRP. 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 29, 2022 ED Team Posted August 29, 2022 Hi, we do already have a report open for this. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Mr. Wilson Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 When using the CBU97 bomb in toss mode, the bomb release point is incorrectly calculated... CBU105 in the same conditions does everything correctly and an accurate hit occurs. I also want to note that it is this method of bombing that is most relevant at low altitudes, so I would like to have the correct resolution for dropping a bomb in such conditions. CBU97.trk
Vortex225 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 I think this has already been reported. It appears to affect the CBU-97 in any release orientation--that is, level, dive, or toss bombing. The submunitions are landing short no matter the situation.

Yes, you are right, it seems that the properties appear in other bombing modes as well, but I have not seen this problem reported before
85th_Maverick Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Hi, Although it has already been addressed by some folks that the CBU 97 goes haywire and spreads far from the designated zone, the CBU 105 does the same and here's what I found to be the greatest cause of it! The burst altitude setting. For both the 97 and 105, when you set a higher burst altitude, the CCRP will compute the release point more wrong and release the bombs (at least the 97) much further than it should overshooting the target by far. The lower the altitude burst setting, the less overshoot from the 97 but, of course, the much smaller radius of spreading the bomblets. The same generally happens with the wind corrected 105 but with a more weird thing. The 105, when having a higher burst altitude, say 3000ft, the bomb will glide too much ahead into the wind (wind overcorrection) in front of the targets on the ground and at the very last moments it tries desperately to correct it's trajectory and go where it should, but by the time it finishes to correct it's glide path the burst altitude is reached sending all the bomblets too far ahead into wind missing everything by far. Here's a track: CBU 97 and 105 go far from target when setting more than 1000FT burst altitude.trk Regards! 1 Good knowledge and common sense make the absurd run for defense. Flying has always been a great interest for mankind, yet learning everything about it brought the greatest challenge!
hetman_ Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I came back to fly F-16 just yesterday after a longer break and I see the CBU97's still fall short of the target (CCIP and CCRP). I did comparison with MK82 in the CCRP and it hits flawlessly.. I'll try to post a track when I have a chance.
Moonshine Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) it was fixed once yet since the last 2 patches its busted again. 97 fall short and 105 drop far (curious how that happens since its a WCMD.. anyways..). besides that 87 and 103 dont really do damage still. bottom line, no cbu is currently useful as the one with effective submunitions are inaccurate and for the other ones you migh as well bring mavericks or use the gun Edited September 27, 2022 by Moonshine 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 27, 2022 ED Team Posted September 27, 2022 if you think it is not working correctly please attach as short as possible track replay examples. Using Caucasus if possible thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Using Caucasus if possible thanks no need, there is already a thread about this and is marked as reported: there is also enough tracks for it. and yes it is not working properly according to that thread and the tracks attached. maybe just merge these posts oh and this one also exists: Edited September 27, 2022 by Moonshine 3
Mr. Wilson Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 (edited) In the last patch, it was written about fixing problems with the CBU97 bombs not hitting, but there are still problems, as you can see on the track, the bombs chronically fly over the target. The tests were carried out at different heights and with different modes of pitching, about 50 drops (before the track) were carried out and for the accuracy of the hit, you always had to aim at the place in front of the target... PS: CBU105 works absolutely fine and hits the target in all cases. geshabuL_ Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Hello there. I haven't used the 97s in quite a while and I think that the option for release angle is relatively new, so I haven't tried it out much. I've watched the tutorial that Wags posted about lofting 97s, even the LADD mode and all others, but whenever I try to loft them (I've tried 10,20,30,45 degrees) nothing happens. Here's what I do: -I align the flight path marker with the vertical line and keep a level flight -When the timer reaches 5 seconds or less, I start pressing the weapons release button. -When I get the cue to pull up, I do so and follow the marker to the best of my ability Yet when the desired release angle is reached, nothing happens, no weapons come off. (And yes, I've checked, my master arm switch is on lol) I guess for best feedback I'll have to post a video, but I think I've had enough for today...
