Sadly I am a HP G2 Owner that got a Headset Never had a Problem with it till I went to a New Computer AMD X 570 Gaming X Motherboard. HP keep this a secret at first till customers all over the world started getting the word out. BY this time My Headset was Just out of its Warranty time limit. I did contact them but was told I was S.O.L. ha ha So I wanted to Buy a New Cable (Sucks to be me) to see They had ZERO in STOCK for months. Then COVID was turned loose on everyone and that just shut this cable hunt down for good. I seen a few times people posting I got one from HP under warranty I'm so HAPPY happy happy joy joy. Happy for "You not for me." I'd See one for sale in a post "Go here get one." Out Of Stock by the time I try it. Lots of post about a few sites in the E.U. and some people saying they got scammed and never got it. (Ouch sounds like my luck) so I felt E.U. is out with shipping to the USA No No I am not doing that. SO the CURRENT time line goes like this. I am so fed up with my cable problems and error codes even with internal PCIe x4 cards Powered and unpowered 3.0 3.1 External Powered Hubs plug and play ready bla bla bla Adapters from type c to A to xyz (joke) My cable problems are getting worse and worse with Driver updates Motherboard Firmware updates  system Windows Updates. DCS Kicking the VR ass of all the listed items. (ED not to worry VR is still my love thank you) Wouldn't hurt to give us VR players some better love FYI lol. OH  my Point. I feel apart. HP has broken me. NOT 1 CABLE in STOCK for retail sale to us Customers in all this time. OUT OF STOCK is what you see every stinking day till NOW that I couldn't take any more and spent 2 times the In Stock price (If it would still sell if it was in stock)

I got The NEW Cable today. It worked just fine. I had no issue with it for the entire time I had it on today. every time I look at it I feel like it came out of my rear end inch by inch with the Devils jalapeno Lube on it with burning ambers for a nice led color effect look. It's okay to laugh at me and even tell me LOL it sucks to be You DishDoggie. lol I got to keep a non negative wave out look on this bad luck story and some humor is a good thing. Right? What the hell do I have left? Anyway are you in the same boat with me? Did this happen to you? OH Please don't tell me I an the ONLY one in the world. please please. LOL Thanks for reading my HP G2 BURNS my BUTT Story. I would love to see a Class action suit against them for defective parts with no recall. OKAY I know just 1 negative wave thought.

I feel you man... :( I'm in Spain, EU. Mine went dark and after a couple months HP sent me a brand new cable. Literally days before the V2 cable was announced to be sent to existing customers XD

So 1 year exactly (literally 12 months) that replacement also broke again and then, out of warranty, cable-shortage-gate, it's everyone by themselves... Finally I managed to buy one (advertised as new) on Amazon.de from a shady german seller. It did arrive two weeks later (for real, not "two weeks" tm) and surprisingly (didn't have much hope) it was a new v2 cable and did work fine!

Now I'm waiting for it to broke next year... So, great vr headset, terrible support and kind of unethical policy by HP not manufacturing enough cables giving they are aware that part is problematic. Well I guess is best for their business model to sell new headsets instead of replacing cables

My G2 with the V1 cable worked on 1 (of 14 available!) USB ports on my B450 motherboard and only via the USB A-USB C adaptor, all fine and no problems at all.  Then I upgraded the 1070 to a 3070 and the headset just stopped working with a 7-14 error, 2 weeks of warranty left and HP sent me a V2 cable through; didn't fix a thing so after jumping through hundreds of hoops which included a fresh windows install on a different hard disk and testing on a completely different machine (at work) they replaced the headset.  It's been absolutely solid ever since and works perfectly on the single USB C port on the motherboard.

When they work they're great but some design choices could have been better made.  For cable longevity I would thoroughly recommend not routing the cable over the top/outside of the strap frame as instructed, when the headset is raised it puts a really tight kink on the cable at the hinge point - in the order of about 25mm radius.  I route it inside and below the frame (running just above the left speaker) with a generous amount of free cable before the anchor point at the back and even with 90° bend in the hinge it's only flexed in a 75mm or so radius bend.

I also have X570 motherboard, had a lot of problems with it (very hard to connect the headset, sometimes requires many reboots, while playing the headset screens would just turn off). Very friendly guy at the phone said that the warranty for my device has ended but nevertheless he sent the new cable for free. The next morning 7am i received my new cable.

Now i just wonder why i didn't call them earlier, but tortured myself with the bad cable for so long time lol.

Nice to see such support coming these days from companies and especially one the size of HP.

Yeah I’m on my second V2 cable, blue screen crashes every half hour or so now. I hope a new generation of headsets is on the horizon so I can get something else. Very frustrating.

I'm on a V1 headset. Looks like we have the same problem with replacement parts. I am quite happy with the Reverb as a headset but my next purchase will not be HP simply because of the out-of-warranty sales/support when it comes to replacing basic things like a cable. I don't want my expensive headset to be at the mercy of not being able to obtain an inexpensive replacement part, and I want to buy from reputable companies that care about their customers outside of the warranty period.

I had my G2 replaced under warranty after the first one failed. But when I built and AMD PC and needed the new cable, they said I was out of warranty. I ordered the new cable and paid the cost. What I should have done was catch a new headset on sale so that I would have had the new cable and a spare headset. But the old cable acts as a spare when used with a compatible USB port and my G2 is still working great with the cable I should not have had to pay for.

My G2 died this morning, white LED flashes on the power brick but nothing else. My unit is from April 2021 with V1 cable, still under warranty. I wrote to the shop to do something.

I became addicted to Condor2 glider sim so time is tough lol. At least I am back to glider skinning.

You were really lucky with that. I'm also out of warranty (I own it ~ 1.5 years) and tried both to chat and call HP Support and the only option they had for me is to buy a new cable (V2), which costs $185.00 (completely new headset now costs $399.00). Luckily I haven't observed the issue I had anymore: several pixel-wide colored vertical lines at the edges on the right LCD screen only, but if it happens again I'd rather go with the new headset.

My issues are coming and going. Right now (knock on wood) I haven’t seen the issue in awhile.

I’m wondering if it’s not my cable. The issue seemed to stop when I updated my AMD Adrenaline drivers… But I thought I had it solved before only to have it return, so time will tell.

My cable is defective: keeps hotswapping the USB controller, which broke the headphones... have to use a headset now, but its not the end of the world (especially with my new 3080ti making a ruckus). I'm just hoping it doesn't die because cable-gate.

I even asked them for a new cable two days of of warranty and got a no...........
