Countdown does not work when using AIM-54 in TWS Auto

Hello,

Whenever I launch an AIM-54 with the radar in TWS Auto mode, the countdown to hit the target is never displayed. I've tried it with all variants of the AIM-54 and it's the same. However most of the time the missile hits the target anyway. Could I be doing something wrong or could this be a bug?

Off the top of my head, is the ACM cover up? Are you in A/A mode?

ACM cover is down. Master arm is on, AA mode on, AIM-54 selected, TWS auto is on using Jester, and I confirm that TWS AUTO is on in the RIO Cockpit. Missile Speed Gate Selector Switch in WIDE, but I've tried it in NOSE QTR too, and normally I put the Missile Options Switch to PH ACT, but I've also tried it with NORM. I fire from the RIO cocpit, when I have a target selected by Jester or I select myself, and when the A/A (Air
to Air) Launch Button lights up. The tutorials I see always use six AIM-54. Are we only supposed to see the countdown when we take six AIM-54? or if, for example, we only take two AIM-54 together with AIM-120s, does the countdown appear on the targets too, when we fire an AIM-54 in TWS AUTO?

You must be missing something. The number of missiles has no impact on the countdown. Some screenshots or even better a short video may help diagnose what that thing you are missing is. Missile prep? TWS AUTO is the only way to guide a Phoenix in TWS mode BTW. If the counter doesn't appear at all, you may not have track files.

PH ACT launches the Phoenix active of the rail without any midcourse guidance and should not be used if you want to fire a TWS shot. The missile speed gate does not do anything in DCS iirc. 

 

A screenshot if the TID before and after launch might help.

The problem may be in what Comstedt86 mentioned, in the fact that I select PH ACT. I'm going to try it, and I'll leave a video and images here as soon as I can.

You mean AIM-7? F-14 does not carry AMRAAMs. Unless you have some mods, which in turn can cause your countdown issue.

Yes, I mean AIM-7!  I am so used to taking AIM-120 in F-18 and F-16, that I made a mistake in writing the missile's name, sorry. It's the AIM-7. No, i dont have any mods.

Yes, Missile prep is on.

PH ACT will have this effect as they'll launch active and not use a TTI.

Hello,

It seems that the problem was that I was used to selecting PH ACT. I thought it would be better. The countdown works fine now that I don't select this option, and I learned why.
