Hi all,

I need your help, if possible, to upgrade my PC monitor.

Currently I have a ASUS VX238H, a FHD, 23’ 1ms monitor.

I would like to go bigger and better.

But I have currently a MSI GTX 1070 TI, which can limit the choosing.

What do you guys recommend on the 27”-30” department?

Kind regards,

F.

If you're budget will stretch and your hardware will run it, might consider a 34" WQHD (3440x1440) monitor. (pixels are 2.4 times as HD monitor fyi). ive had a dell for years, but lots of options now with that format (curved is best IMHO) Note that your monitor will probably outlast all your other components.

Yes, you would. The 1070 really can't push a 4k picture worth of pixels worth a damn. I would recommend you stay with FHD (or 1980 x 1080 resolution) monitors. The question is whether you are going to be using the monitor for any other gaming? I for one prefer an IPS panel with great colors, over a high refresh rate monitor, but I rarely play shooters, and when I do i use vsync to prevent screen-tearing. Other people prefer low latency, high refresh rate monitors, but those have a tendency for displaying really bland washed out colors.

27-30" is too big if you plan on sticking with 1080p, depending how close you sit to your screen the pixels will most likely be noticeable. I would recommend at least going 1440p, even if it means you have to dial back some graphic settings. Most people upgrade their monitors once a decade, so bear that in mind when you make the purchase. Say you end up snatching a used 3070 next year for cheap, its going to be mostly wasted if you're stuck with a 1080p panel.

I'm questioning the order of upgrades here.

I agree that, given your current GPU, it will be best to keep the pixel count low. But eventually you will upgrade your GPU, won't you? And then you maybe stuck with a 1080p monitor.

Heck, even a 1080ti can push 4K (with medium settings).

As someone said, a monitor is a long term investment typically.
