I conducted a quick search in the forums and didn't spot anything helpful on this.

So...

I am building a mission, and would like there to be ABRIS information already stored for pilots to load (more than just waypoints, forward line of troops, suspected SAM threat areas.. etc).

I have read the GUI on this: (quoted from another thread)

"PREPARE MISSION. The PREPARE MISSION mode is used for integrating navigation and environment data into the saved mission file. When near the end of creating a mission, you can start the mission in the PREPAREMISSION mode (it will look much like usual FLY MISSION start) and create ABRIS data such as routes, navigation, target points, and drawing line objects. After completing ABRIS data input, you should save all the data to the virtual ABRIS hard disk as described in the Ka-50 flight manual. You should then exit from the mission and press the SAVE button in the ME to save all the prepared ABRIS data in the mission. With this data in the mission file (mission files are actually .ZIP files) the file will appear in the ABRIS\Database\ folder which consists of three files: ADDITIONAL.lua, NAVGATION.lua, and ROUTES.lua. You may open a .miz file with a program such as winzip. Additionally, using this procedure you can save ADF mission file data (beacon preset frequencies) in the \Scripts\Aircrafts\ka-50\Cockpit\Devices_specs\ARK.lua file. You can also set the GPS/GLONASS satellites constellation in the \Scripts\World\GPS_GNSS.lua file. If you wish to save custom beacons and satellite constellations in the mission, you must edit the proper files before entering PREPARE MISSION mode. For example, you can unzip the quick start mission and see this file structure"

I can not seem to get this to work right. So could someone list a step by step process for the layman? It is possible to have ABRIS files to load up in game correct?

Adding additional information is actualy quite easy.

1. Start "Prepare Mission"

2. Add the info you want in the ABRIS (MENU>PLAN>ADD INF)

3. Save the information (MENU>CONTROL>DTB>SAVE; then select ADDITIONAL INFO with the arrows and press SAVE).

4. Exit the mission

5. Save mission

Your additional info will now display in every helicopter everytime you launch that mission. There is no need for the player to load anything from the memory.

i'll try this again... i must have missed a step, but I want to say I've done it just like you said.

also... would it be possible to make multiple files for different pilots to load? For example: a mission that requires different goals, helo A and B load file 1234, and helo C and D load file 5678?

¿ And if you want to store in the ABRIS this info and flight plan added for load it in future different missions?

Mbot - Do you use the line tool to write words in the ABRIS...?

Enjoyed your first mission and looking forward to playing the most recent one!

No I used to point tool and added a reference point. Unfortunately you can only name them with 6 (?) characters and only in black color. As far as I am aware, you can not add standalone text to the ABRIS.

Thanks for the swift reply... but your most recent mission has red PL HOUND PL WOLF and PL DEER... howdyoudothat? :) or is that only on the screenshot?

Ah this, yes that is only a screenshot of the editor map I edited. You will notice that the info on the ABRIS is slightly different (for example I have redrawn lines for the forests because the ABRIS map doesn't have them).

Can't wait for the improvements to the ME in the next patch.

Me too (hopes for hold waypoints, group in zone and 'or' syntax)!

Retaking the discussion.

Experimenting with the creation of new flight plans and storing it inside the ABRIS, now i am able to do so without any problem but a new question shows.

Any Flight plan ( also several ones ), Flight lines, Info, Terrain points, anything you can add into the ABRIS data base in prepare mission mode is attached to a mission file.

If i load a different mission file, all this ABRIS data aren´t there.

My question is: Is possible to store flight plans and info data into the ABRIS in such a way that in any mission i fly i will be able to open ABRIS data base and choose between different flight plans and additional info stored?

Like, imagine Mission 1 of the Deployment Campaign. There is a FLP and additional data in teh ABRIS already loaded. Is possible to open the ABRIS data base and choose from different FLP and additional data changing the default one?

Thanks

From PM page 3-38:

Although you can save route plans into the ABRIS system RAM through the PLAN sub-mode pages, you can also save a route plan into the ABRIS permanent database (i.e. your hard drive). If you do so, you will have the ability to load it the next time you fly the same mission. To do so:

So I'm guessing no which is really sad.

Mbot, I'm I crazy or did I play one of your missions where I got a "live" data link update with new targets?

How did you do that?

You must be crazy :) Which mission was it?

Thanks Frederf. I see. really sad. I don´t know if the real ABRIS could store several FLP and additional info for a straight access anytime.

This feature could be great in a next patch.

hehe, I think it was flank guard, but I opened it up last nite, and my guess it was one of your great coms that had me thinking that.

I hope you are working on some new ones :)

Next is almost ready to deploy, just need to do some quality control flying :)

AFAIK, there's no straightforward way to do that. However, if you have stored additional info in your ABRIS while in prepare mode, you can copy/paste this additional set of data from one mission to another ;). To do so:

1) Open the mission file (.miz) with any archive managing software (.miz files are just zip-files with a modified extension ;) )

2) Once the mission archive is unpacked, you will see an "ABRIS" folder.

3) Copy/extract this "ABRIS" folder anywhere, and insert it in any other mission-zipfile for which you'd like this additional info to be available :)

You might also want to merge info or routes created. For that, you'll have to edit the lua files contained in the "ABRIS" folder ;) Actually, the path/files indicated in the GUI manual are not really files in your BS directory, but path in the archive structure of the mission-zipfile.

With this data in the mission file (mission files are actually .ZIP files) the file will appear in the ABRIS\Database\ folder which consists of three files: ADDITIONAL.lua, NAVGATION.lua, and ROUTES.lua. I have been experimenting with the Prepare feature and here is my scenario:

I create a MP mission. I create one helo, prepare mission, draw lines, saves route and info (no problems). I add other client helos and save mission.

I test the mission and I can enter any helo, choose and load the plan I created. It shows all the info and route saved in helo 1, just like I wanted. No info is saved to the PVI-800. I try entering WP lat/long navigation data into the PVI-800 and it saves the WP data. Helo will still not follow the route while in route mode (route was activated in the Abris and I changed PVI-800 back to OPER mode.).

-So-

we can save routes in the ABRIS, but they are of no use to the Route mode AP(?) Either I missed a step or this is not useful unless one wants to fly by hand(?) [other than adding lines and info]

My goal was to have clients load their plans at startup and that worked.. can I get it to work with route mode AP?

thanks.

ok.. found out I was sending my helo to the wrong hemishere!

adding Wps in the PVi-800 works correctly when in Route Mode. I was hitting '1' to enter my lat/long data (meaning S and W instead of N and E). By hitting '0' to enter data, it is the proper hemipshere.

Thanks Berkutskaya.

Not ideal but is a solution for my wish.

Thanks for searching an answer.

The real ABRIS can for-sure store many many flight plans at once. I don't know about the non-FP map drawing data. This feature of storage is already half-implemented in DCS:BS since you can do all that lovely saving stuff with the ABRIS, the only downside is each mission is its own bubble without data transferring between.
