Greetings,

Would it be possible for you to update the weapons labels for the F-14s to the new DCS standard?

I don't think it would be challenging to implement, but I think many would appreciate this change.

I have attached the picture to specify exactly what I mean.

Thank you so much!
Kind regards

I hold my fingers croseed hoping that Sir @IronMike will notice us 🙂

Already did, just didn't have the time to reply proper yet. It is on the list, albeit a slightly lower priority currently, we have a ton of stuff going on as we speak, but hopefully within the next 2 patches or so. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

While you're at it can you please also take a look how weapons are shown on the kneeboard page? I remember sth long like "{SHOULDER AIM-7M LAU-138}" which even overwrites other text on the right.

Yeah the kneeboard for some reason seamingly uses the CLSID instead of the display name or user name values for certain pylons.

Thank you, we'll look at that, too.

@IronMike Any chance to add training version of GBU12 (BDU 45LG)? Would be nice for squadron training

We have not seen any reference of the BDU 45LG ever used with the Tomcat. It used BDU-57 through -60 instead as LGTRs. (Thanks to @Naquaii for pointing that out to me.)

Personally, I'm not a fan of the new system:

  • It's inconsistent:
    • Sometimes full weapon designations are given (like GBU-31(V)3/B) and sometimes not (like the GBU-12).
    • Sometimes the weapon name is given and sometimes not (the GBU-24 entry has "Paveway III" but the GBU-10/12's don't have "Paveway II") on a related note, sometimes the name is before the dash and sometimes it's after it (the GBU-24 have it before, the GBU-31/38s have it after, the AGM-62 has it before, but the official designation after).
    • Sometimes the full word is given (e.g "Radar" and sometimes it's abbreviated e.g. "Rdr")
  • Sometimes it's incorrect (here the F-14's drop tanks are 267 US gal capacity, not 300) and the CAP-9M is actually called CATM-9M.
  • Fuel tanks are named solely by capacity and not given a name (e.g. FPU-1/A) - this is an absolute pain in the backside when trying to find them in the warehouse, as you'll find tanks that have unique entries but given the exact same name.
  • It contains information that is completely redundant (I don't need to be told something is a bomb when I'm in the bombs category, I don't need to be told something is an AAM when I'm in the AA missiles category).

For things like weights and guidance methods, I'd rather have that information in the in-game encylcopaedia and it would be good to get a quick link to take you straight to it - like C:MO). Even better would be a small information box that pops up, telling you the main facts about the weapon, kinda like the tooltips for switches, when you hover over a weapon.

Personally, how I'd do it generally is something like this:

*full weapon designation* *weapon name* *[warhead/filling/configuration (if applicable)]* *quantity (if > 1)* - *launcher (if applicable)*

See below for the full list for the current F-14A/B:
