HP REVERB G2 not detected but...

Usb ports changed, cables checked are fine, drivers (USB and Reverb) window updated. It worked well with 2080Ti GPU then I changed to 3080 and it worked after installation. Suddenly no screen, the HP Logo is not lighting up but on Device Manager  (in hidden) it shows the device and says it is working properly. The Link Box white pilot light is on. Wanted to go to HP support but cannot find any G2 Support page... Could it be the power adapter even if Link Box light is on? or is the cable bad ?

Should I buy the newer link box and cable, and is there one shorter than 6 m?

Could not see anything wrong. Has Someone any idea? Am in the Dominican Republic there is no shop or friend with a G2. PLEASE HELP.

If the headset light isn't on, and based on my own tumultuous relationship with my G2 a few weeks ago, I'd say it's a bad cable and it's not getting power.

I'd check all your connections and make sure everything is firmly seated, also check the cable that plugs into the headset itself for damage from crimping/flexing when you raise or lower the visor.

My first cable failed, then I got a brand new one, it failed a few days later, and then I got a third one and all my issues instantly stopped.

HP's cables are absolute trash, even their new ones.

What Mars Exulte said. The cables are trash, still they charge roughly 80 bucks for it. I recently had exactly the same issue as you have, ordered a new cable and the issue was gone. Also my third one now.

We should probably keep some in reserve, like grizzled survivalists hoarding canned goods and ammo.

True. It´s just that the cables won´t last very long unless you keep like 2 dozens in reserve...

The trick is not to flip the headset up or at an angle when taking it off and putting it on It’s better to pull it forward and up or slide it on. But yeah gotta treat the G2 cable like an egg.

I think also it is the cable. So I bought a new one the  G2 V2 cable on amazon ($159) and I'll post back to this forum if it works or not,

Nevertheless I have seen in DEVICE MANAGER when right clicking on the Reverb G2 (hidden files) that although it says  device is working properly it shows an error: E DEVICE USB SPEED TOO LOW DEVICE error 0x80040203. Hope it is not a dying motherboard or processor? What is your guess?

Anything's possible, just have to experiment and see. But statistically... it's probably the garbage cable acting up. When it arrives, plug it in. If it magically starts working, you know it's that. If it doesn't, it's something else. Or you got another bad cable. Seriously, it's hard to tell with a failure rate that high.

I didn't know they were that expensive. Damn. I literally have more cables than the headset is worth. That's insane.

To all of you: the new v2 cable solved the problem. IT worked even with USB C port which was not recognized with the old original cable.

If Hp released a G3 with only a modest spec bump, but a v3 cable that was reliable, that in itself would be a compelling argument to upgrade.

To all, I was wrong

The headset lighted up and I thought it worked. In usb  C3.1 with MSFS  it showed cockpit but all distorted that one cannot read at all and not see clearly. Changing to USB 3 or 2 it says: working but error 0x80040205 E device No Timesync DATL or trying another USB 3 with power hub = error 800402202 E Device Transfer Error and headset is not lighting up. Tried DCS and Aerofly with USB C and this two work without distorsions so is it possible that the new V2 cable is not working with MSFS 2020? Tried also USB 3 without powered  USB hub, it is not working...of course all my settings are for VR, and worked before, I d8r not change settings....any ideas?

Haven't tried MSFS myself yet, so cannot say, but afaik it should work fine. Sounds like you've got some other issues. You definitely need a powered USB port though. N/s what else to try.
