TEMPEST.114 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 This would allow us to keep working on a mission whilst letting the last saved version of a mission to run in the simulator to test out triggers / events etc... 4
cfrag Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 This is my biggest wish on the (long) list of improvements - even higher than undo. I only need undo once every 10 minutes, whilst during mission debug, I need to switch between ME and mission 3 times. The time I've lost just waiting for loading ME or mission... 2
ADHS Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 FC3, KA-50 1, and A-10 1 where using ME as an external application. Indeed was very handy, even without UNDO 2 Democracy was already invented, while Scrat was eating oak fruits.
Xupicor Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 This would be a glorious development. I'd love to sit back on my other PC and have the mission editor to tinker in outside of the game. 1 Windows 11 Pro, RTX4090 (24GB), 5950X @ 4.3GHz, 64GB RAM @ 3000MHz, M.2 SSD 8TB, Pimax Crystal Modules and maps: All of 'em. (It's a problem...)
AegisFX Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I remember we actually had it. Back before the modules were together in DCS:World. *Thanks for that one ED!* If it was some sort of option and we could still do it from the unified exe as well I'd be happy for people that want it separate too. 1 Owned: Ryzen 3900x, MSI AMD 470x mobo, 32gb 3200MHz ram, Gtx 1660 Ti, 970 Evo Plus 500GB, MsFFB2, TIR5, TMWH+18c Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Buttkicker/SSA, WinWing F-18C . Next is VR for simpit Art Of The Kill:
Lace Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I'd go further and suggest a browser based stand-alone ME. Purely so I can sit at my desk at work mission building. 4 Laptop Pilot. Alienware X17, i9 11980HK 5.0GHz, 16GB RTX 3080, 64GB DDR4 3200MHz, 2x2TB NVMe SSD. 2x TM Warthog, Hornet grip, Virpil CM2 & TPR pedals, Virpil collective, Cougar throttle, Viper ICP & MFDs, pit WIP (XBox360 when traveling). Quest 3S. Wishlist: Tornado, Jaguar, Buccaneer, F-117 and F-111.
DVSSECUR Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Separate editor would certainly reduce the size of the laptop needed to run the editor. I can do with out the "Fly Now" button on a standalone editor.
JonathanRL Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I am signing this to keep it alive. I would love this; I would most likely get a whole lot more done since I would not need my main rig to work on missions.
dmatsch Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I, for one, would love to see this. I really don't want to haul up to the office and fire up the Big Rig just to create a mission. I'd love to be able to sit on the couch and do this. HOWEVER, and this is a biggie, I believe that this would never work out right. I have absolutely never created even a semi-complex mission without going back and forth from ME to Run then back to ME -- fixing AI issues ad nauseum, scripting errors, triggers, flags, mods, etc. Add in a complex mod like DML with its own set of configurations and issues. You'd create your big, complex mission on your laptop and the first time you tried to run it, NOTHING would work the way you imagined and it would be an absolute nightmare to debug.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but there is a lot basic "grunt" work that can be done (setting up radios, placing statics) etc that don't require testing. I use my laptop currently for that type of stuff even though I wouldn't try flying on it which would make it very worth while to have this.
