I went onto https://www.vaicompro.com/ today and there is only a file to download called Viacom Pro 2_5_28.zip. The only thing that is included in this file is a viacompro.dll that unlocks all the modules. When used, my AV also blocked communication to a  website

I replaced that dll with the one that came with 2_5_27.zip. I was still able to validate my keys. I think we should be hesitant on getting that .dll from the viacompro.com website.

VAICOM pro had an autoupdate feature. Hollywood hosted the updates there. To see which version you need, your client asks this url:

string URL = "http://www.awebsite.com/uploads/"; // <-- web URL of the hosted updates.json file
                        string downloadfile = null;
                        Log.Write("Checking for updates... ", Colors.Inline);

I understand. So nothing nefarious, just an over anxious AV.

So couple of questions:

I have installed DCS 2.8 but not yet run it. Do I need to uninstall Vaicom Pro and re-install using the new MSI installer? Or can I just install over my existing install?

I assume I then need to drop the new Airo and Chatter dll's in as well?

Can we have a sticky that explains how to do the fix for Vaicom Pro for both DCS versions (stable and beta)?  It seems like instructions are spread out between Discord and different DCS Forum posts,to which you have to scroll/read through alot of posts to try and make coherent sense of things.  It would be nice to consolidate everything into one post here in the Vaicom forum, especially for those who don't have Discord.

Thanks!

Installation Instructions:

- Backup your current VAICOMPRO folder found in your VoiceAttack/Apps folder.

- Delete the VAICOMPRO folder in your VoiceAttack /Apps folder.
   Launch VoiceAttack and exit again.

- Unzip the contents of the zip file and move the VAICOMPRO folder into your VoiceAttack/Apps folder.

- Launch VoiceAttack and exit again.

- If you wish to restore your VoiceAttack profile and VAICOM settings, copy your backed up Config and Profiles folders to your new VAICOMPRO folder in VoiceAttack/Apps.

- Launch VoiceAttack.

- Launch the VAICOM config menu (L CTRL+L ALT+C) and open the “Config” tab.

- Next to “Use Custom DCS Path” click the SET button and direct it to your DCS World install folder (i. e. Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World OpenBeta).

- Move the sliders to match your DCS World version (i. e. openbeta / standalone).

- Open the “Reset” tab and uncheck all but Lua code and click “Master Zero”.

- Restart VoiceAttack and check the log that comes up, to make sure it finds your DCS 2.8 installation

Last but not least:

- Follow VAICOM's docs to finish configuring it for use.

Thanks Tomcat-Driver!

Maybe add a note as to what the path is if you have the Steam version?

@dburne Hi, I reply to here, since that other thread will be closed. And I'll quote you below.

"Hmm thought on my end would be a simple install over what I already had, now nothing working. I had updated DCS to 2.8 but had not ran it yet. I used the msi installer to install Vaicom Pro over my existing install. Nothing working any longer. No TX button presses, nothing."

Right, the simple upgrade path we're left out. This is what I did.

1. I made sure sliders, Standalone/OpenBeta were set correctly in the VAICOM control panel, and confirmed custom path was checked and pointed to the OpenBeta install directory.

2. Shutdown DCS and VoiceAttack.

3. Downloaded zip, and not msi. (I did test with a previous msi though, so it should work).

4. Unzipped, and copied the updated dll to VAICOM folder in VoiceAttack. (the Chatter and AIRIO dlls are the same except version number in the file, to be future release oriented).

5. Did a repair of DCS through Skatezilla's app.

6. Started VoiceAttack.

7. Started DCS.

8. Testet Tomcat Refuel Fight Recover instant action. Comms, Jester and Kneeboard worked.

"Had a good visit from surgeon today and have been released for some VR flying once again, now need to get this sorted. So should I uninstall everything -both Vaicom and VA - and start fresh? Was trying to it the quick and easy, but apparently did not know what the quick and easy was."

Congrats on the excellent news! Happy to hear you're well and getting back in the saddle!

No need to un/re-install I hope. Could you try my procedure above and report back?

Cheers!

Thanks, ended up for whatever reason it had just wiped out my throttle keybinds for the TX presses and releases. No idea why but I was away from flight sims for about 7 weeks. Got them re-assigned and all appears well now, will know better after I can actually do some flying with it tomorrow.

I just spent a suspenseful half hour following the instructions and getting VAICOM Pro back in working order.  I want to express my sincere appreciation for the time and effort put in by the community to come up with a fix for the latest update to DCS.  It is impressive to see how a group of dedicated users can come together and keep us up and running.  With Hollywood hanging up his spurs I am delighted to see someone take up the reins to keep us flying.  I don't have the programming expertise to contribute to the technical side, but I would be happy to donate funds to the group to keep this effort alive.  Again, many thanks for getting a software fix in place!

Thank you for all the work that has been done.  I thought I had done something wrong with my install when the configuration keys would not work.  I should have checked the forums first!!!

I am not on discord, will the file be available on this forum at some stage in the future?
