Woodstock Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Hi @ll and Happy New (Simming) Year! In preparation for this year's LLTM from April 2nd to 5th in Ahaus, I have begun drafting a concept and schedule for this year's LockOn Competition, taking into account feedback from the previous years' events. One of the major requests was more free time and a less packed mission schedule. Therefore, I have decided to keep Saturday Evening free for beer and socializing. Futhermore, the combat missions will no longer consist of multiple rounds, but only one single sortie. This will leave ample time for briefing and team tactics discussion before the flight. The dogfight matches will no longer be "best of three", but only one single round, making for a shorter dogfight tournament. Nevertheless, there will be enough competition events offered for those who like to indulge in a full weekend of LockOn flying. As you might know from the past, you do not need to participate in all those events to be successful in the overall competition. Just make sure you are on time to join the briefings of those events you want to participate in. Especially the new "single sortie" mode for combat missions should provide for less stress than we experienced in the last years during a 3-hour mission time block . Here is a preliminary draft of the LLTM 2009 LockOn Competition Schedule, likely subject to change: - All times are local time which is Central European Summer Time or UTC+2. Friday, April 3rd, 2009 08:00-12:00 Build-Up, Free Flight 12:00-14:00 LLTM Welcome Ceremony, Lunch 14:00-17:00 Air Race 17:00-18:00 Dinner 18:00-21:00 Combat Mission 21:00–01:00 Dogfight Tournament Saturday, April 4th, 2009 08:00-09:00 Free Flight 09:00–12:00 Combat Mission 12:00–13:00 Lunch 13:00–16:00 Combat Mission 16:00–17:00 Free Flight, if necessary: Dogfight Finals 17:00–20:00 Combat Mission, Dinner after briefing & before takeoff 20:00–01:00 Free Beer (5th Anniversary vJaBoG32) Sunday, April 5th, 2009 08:00–10:00 Free Flight, if necessary: Dogfight Finals 10:00–14:00 Solo Aerobatic Displays, Lunch 14:00–15:00 Free Flight, Packing 15:00–17:00 LLTM Closing Ceremony This preliminary schedule will most probably change after coordination to incorporate the time requirements of the Falcon4 and IL2 competitions regarding food and briefing room times. If necessary, one of the combat missions will be dumped. I am open to ideas and suggestions in this thread, or via E-Mail to woodstock@virtual-jabog32.de Expect the LLTM2009 Homepage by Head Event Manager Jan "Ice" Hilt up and ready for participation sign-up in the next couple of weeks. Expect the full LockOn Competition Manual including the finalized schedule available for download in the first weeks of March. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in April in Ahaus! Jigsaw Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I just saw a TV report about that event on WDR television in Germany. Of course it was shallow and the interviewer tried her best to make the participants looks like nutjobs. Granted, people like us ARE crazy, but still... :D
Airway Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I was there and also met some friends. Was a great event as always. Sadly this was the last LLTM to be held in the Tobit Software buildings, in ahaus, Germany. I hope they can find a new place good as the old one, and as there were a lot of our dutch friends, close to the dutch border. Maybe the reason I think this, is because it was only 50 km away from my hometown. Btw, Münster, Germany has a lot of nice places for events of this kind, too. :music_whistling: :D But sadly none with a jet under the roof, like in the Tobit Elements building :D
Joe Kurr Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 This has been my 10th LLTM, and the first time ever with people from the Dutch Flanker Display Team on the podium. I managed to get the second place in the Lockon championship, and win the Lockon Airrace. Wasserfall won the Aerobatics Tournament with Sawamura and me coming second and third. Here's a picture of our team, with some other people you might recognize :) Left to right: Groove, Lightsniper, Dee, LigerZero, Jim, Joe Kurr, Wasserfall I have uploaded some (243) pictures to my web server: LLTM 2009 Gallery Enjoy! Airway Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 (edited) As I said, Münster :D Nooo, not because it's my hometown :D Here's a MiG-17 and the black roofed hall is maybe an alternative location for the LLTM: Edited April 7, 2009 by Airway
