v1per Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Perks to the pilot on a job well done. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/15/national/main4724543.shtml
Pilotasso Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 yep, everybody got out OK. It was surreal. .
opformaster Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Its got to be the worst day to go down in the Hudson, at least it had stopped snowing and they were able to make a safe landing. Plus its a very active stretch of the river with allot of ferry crossings and cruise ships berthed there. So if a plane crashes between NY and NJ where do you bury the survivors? edit: We have allot of plane crashes here, you get used to it after your 4th or 5th. v1per Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 So if a plane crashes between NY and NJ where do you bury the survivors? edit: We have allot of plane crashes here, you get used to it after your 4th or 5th. Why would you say that? #1. States don't have a say in where a persons body gets buried. Its the Families choice of the person who died. #2. You don't "get used to" any kind of aircraft crash. All are different but every one is scary and frightning. If I was there and was on my boat, I would have run right over to the jet and provided assistance...any Real person would do the same thing.
herig2 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Good work from the crew, both engines out !! v1per, survivors do not get bury. Its a old joke, Looks like opformaster got you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Glad they're OK. It really seems movie like! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

v1per Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 v1per, survivors do not get bury. Its a old joke, Looks like opformaster got you. Thats great, its not a joke nor a laughing matter when talking about death, especially aircraft crash related...
X-man Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Moments before the ditching... http://quiteallright.blogspot.com/2009/01/us-airways-flight-1549-pre-crash-photo.html 64th Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 135.181.115.54
opformaster Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I would not have made a joke if people were killed but the fact is everybody is ok. Ive lived in NYC my entire life, and the fact is we have our fair share of aviation mishaps due to a variety of factors. Ive seen a few of them in person and I worked on the ground zero site in the first week. Life is crazy, if you cant laugh at it a bit then whats the point. -op4 Rig Specs: AMD FX-60 @ 2.6ghz - DFI Lanparty SLI UT - 4gb Mushkin Redline Ram - WD Raptor 300gb HDD - EVGA 260GTX 940mb - SoundBlaster something Live:P - Samsung 20.1" Syncmaster 204B (Camera) and Shuttle 17" xp17 (Abris & Shkval) Flight Controls: Franken Force CH 568/Logitech Wingman Force 3D Hybrid - CH Pro Throttle - Logitech Momo Wheel Conversion to FFB pedals - Belkin N52
MoGas Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I guess the same mishap like 7,5 years ago? Anyway good job for the crew!!!
CE_Mikemonster Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Mad, good job to the pilot. Quite reassuring also. I don't want to hijack this thread but I didn't want to clone it, so can I ask if these planes are officially capable of 'ditching' safely, and if there's a set procedure? I always thought the engines would drag far too much and pitch the nose down. If this isn't the right place to mention all this please delete the post, my apologies. Too many cowboys. Not enough indians. GO APE SH*T
nscode Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 There isn't a procedure. There are recommendations. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
