I seriously doubt it. Avoid running a game as Administrator as much as you can.

Aha I misunderstood your earlier advice. You meant not to run an Administrator.

Hi

this is unusual, snap views are working for me.

Please check your axis zoom view is it on maybe?

I think I messaged you on this, SNAPVIEWS are different.

My pleasure!

My User Snap View Save was checked before and still checked now and doesn't affect the saving function...still broken.

I have noticed the issue might be related to switching aircraft with different settings.  The External FOV slider that was introduced within the past year, sets the default FOV for outside for all aircraft, but perhaps setting the inside FOV (which is optimally different inside each aircraft) shouldn't be saving my Hornet inside settings for my Mustang inside settings.  The Depth Of Field and distances are different.

There is actually three (maybe a fourth) dimensions to consider when dialing in the inside/outside world for each aircraft.

1-Outside FOV

2-Inside FOV

3-HUD Information Stretch

4-HMD/IHADS Information Stretch

I'll do a video to demonstrate.

I’ll try the A-10CII although they all behave the same way. If I go with the default, no modified files. Num0 produces a view angle of 73.0

if I adjust this to say 111.4 and press RAlt+Num0, and change the zoom, pressing Num0 returns me to 111.4. So far so good.
Quit DCS and go look at my files.

aha there's my number

IF you could, now go and change another aircraft FOV (Not SnapView Setting everyone) and then save it, exit and return and check both LUAs.  Let me know what you notice.  Thanks!

Hey, I think the (apparent) solution was burried in those threads somewhere. Seemingly ED added a new parameter in the snapview.lua, which messes up your existing save and ability to save new ones. Apparently you can rectify this problem by deleting the snapview.lua in your savegames/config folder and then jump in the game and save a new one. The saving should work again from there on.

I wasn’t able to test myself yet, so I’m just relaying here.

  • 2 months later...

I am having issues saving some, not all, new snap views. Deleting the snapview.lua file helped somewhat, but I finally had to resort to trial and error editing of the snapview.lua to get one view the way I wanted it.

My issue is particular to the P-51D, specifically trying to get a (visible) snap view of the fuselage fuel gauge. (The "stock" snap view for the fuel gauge has the gauge mostly hidden.) Manually setting the camera with the view I wanted, going briefly to the snap view I wanted to save it in and then using RAlt+Num0 resulted in returning to the original view with no changes no matter how many times I tried. Even tried it with a different snap view slot with the same (lack of) results. I didn't have any issues saving other snap views after deleting the original snapview.lua. I was eventually able to configure the view I wanted after about an hour of editing the snapview.lua.

I have solved the problem by deleting the config files of older missions in which it did not let me save the views. Access the miz files using a decompression program and delete possible config folders, this will help.
