This has been annoying me for ages, and I dont know if it's something wrong with my setup or other people experience this also?

I am flying in VR using my G2 headset, not necessarily pressing any button/input and all of a sudden my view will change from in cockpit to an external view or one of the other F key views. Happens more often when I am in a dog fight and moving my head around a lot. Real PITA as I then have to take my hands off the HOTAS and find the F1 key to put my view back in the cockpit.

Dont think its a key binding as it can happen when i'm not touching anything. I wondered it it was an issue with the G2 cable, but it has occured with both the v1 and v2 cables. I have tried reseating the headset cable but it's made no difference.

Real annoying and would appreciate any advice on how to remedy if possible.

Thanks.

some ideas

any LED's in the room , in the LOS of the headset? turn them off

changing light conditions? pull the blinds/curtains and put on a light

tracking against a single colour wall? add some contrast to it.

you have established the headset (e.g. done the moves to centre it before playing the game, usually left right up and down with it on your head)

Thx SOH.

The lights in the room are LED spotlights. Currently sat with blinds down and the LED spotlights lighting the room.

Must admit I have not centred the headset. I just turn the machine on, start DCS and put the headset on. I must be missing a step I guess?

If you put the headset on before the game starts, you will get some simple instructions...

Also I tend to bind a button on my hotas to vr centre...

I've been getting this, too, since updating to 2.8, it never did it before, so might be a bug.

I just said the following in another similar discussion...

I have a brand new HP Reverb G2. I am experiencing the same problem almost every second session. The head/viewpoint can randomly move in the cockpit or many metres outside the cockpit with my real head not moving at all. This happens in the hangar lobby too. One second I am sitting in front of the DCS World Menu, then a few seconds latter I am at the ceiling of the hanger and then above the hanger. The headset seem to start jumping around as soon as I launch DCS. There is no such misbehavior of the headset when I am in the Mixed Reality Portal without DCS running.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? I have two flawless sessions and two time wasting sessions where it's impossible to fly. No problems in the portals at any time, unless DCS is running.

I am running DCS in OpenXR. I tried Steam VR once and it was a hot mess and went straight back to Open XR for a good experience

Yes! I get this also.   It sometimes stops when I add more lights or adjust lighting angles but always stops after fresh reloading game and Mixed Reality.  A smart Coder on my server says to do that and also every time a server restarts or changing servers. Something to do with cleaning or clearing a script file.
Upon server restarts he’ll remind everyone to do this.  Still happens but much rarer.

I know I'm late to the party on this, but randomly switching to F-key views sounds like maybe the G2s microphone is picking up a noise that it is interpreting as a voice command maybe?

It's not f views, it's centering in random locations. Recentering the view usually fixes it. But that's a good idea to check nonetheless
