I'm watching this video and the guy who is showing it to me is able to pan around the cockpit very easily but when I do it, I use my hat switch and it moves in big chunks instead of moving smoothly around the cockpit.  I want to know how to recreate how he is moving the view around so I can get a handle on it, instead of it moving jerkily around.  I can't look over to the left or over to the right without re-correcting.

Thanks,

Jim

It might be helpful if you post the video you're watching for reference. 😉

I  use  vr  all the  time  and  only use  tr  when  flying  in the  liberation campaign due  to  the  complex  of  the   campaign.  Dont  how users  fly  in  dcs  just using  the  hat switch  makes it  so much  harder  for  fly  missions  etc

He's probably low on cash. On another thread he asks about a 3D Pro joystick which I believe cost $35. Buying Tr5 or VR is out of the question.

There are cheaper options for head tracking than Track IR. Laser Clip, face tracking etc. I bought 3D-printed clip with camera for ~USD30.

From what I read. You get what you pay for.

I'll stick to Tr5 but you're right. There are cheaper options if you don't have the money.

@Murphyjmm there are other settings that you can bind to what ever your using to look around. on the page that you can bind controls, if you select view in the drop down menu it will show you all of them. one group of them is slower than the original keybinds.

i use the mouse to look around, i tried head tracking and i didn't like it  one bit. i also binded the ralt +c(the keybind- force cursor to show)to my mouse which allows me to zoom in and out and look all around with the mouse and with a click of a button it will put you in the mode to click switches.

How do you look around when flying. (hand on stick)

Head tracking, either using TrackIR or one of the free DIY solutions is pretty essential to being able to play DCS well. You need immediate access to all the HOTAS commands and I’m not sure how that’s possible when also trying to use a hat switch or having your other hand on a mouse. Besides simply turning your view, head tracking is 6DOF allowing you to look around obstructions like canopy fames etc. Using the HMD to aim weapons or acquire targets really doesn’t work with a hat switch.

Couldn't  even  imagine  on  how  one  would  try  to look  around  using  a  mouse  or  hat  switch  whilst  engaging  in 1 or  more  enemy  aircraft
