Coxy_99 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 This issue has been in since the new clouds were introduced under certain cloud formations you get this jank grid lines in the clouds please can we look into this, You dont need a track, This is easy to re produce, You dont have to delete shader folders etc the issue still persists and once you notice it it makes it so annoying to un see. 2
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 9, 2023 ED Team Posted January 9, 2023 A track is required so we can see which clouds pre-set is being used in the mission please also include your DCS settings including cloud setting your NVIDIA / AMD graphics settings also thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Gun Jam Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Yes ive notice this too. I fly Vr and its easy to spot. I believe it has to do with how the clouds are built. I fly with clouds on ultra quality. Just by looking at this I came to the conclusions that clouds are built on a grid matrix because that's exactly what it looks like. The most basic "cloud" is a small cube then those cubes are combined to make a larger block and those blocks are combined to make large clouds. The lines between these cubes inevitably line up and create straight lines and grid shapes. It should be visible on just about any preset. Does anyone not notice this is the real question. It was always my guess that it wasn't a "bug" but a design limitation.
MadKreator Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) I see this pretty much anytime I play. If I look for it. Instant action-Caucuses-f-16- takeoff is a good one to see the effect all over. Shows up most with thinner scattered cloud layers. I use clouds on ultra on 5120x1440 screen Edited January 10, 2023 by MadKreator Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 10, 2023 ED Team Posted January 10, 2023 Hi some of the older presets presented this issue and they were updated, but you may find you need to pick a new pre-set in the editor for clouds and resave the mission. 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team Solution BIGNEWY Posted January 10, 2023 ED Team Solution Posted January 10, 2023 We have checked the tracks they are using the older presets. We are currently working on changing older missions for the new cloud presets, but this will take time. In short with the newer presets you should see improvement thank you 3 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Lange_666 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 This means that each mission created before the update, even those delivered standard with DCS over the years, is having this problem. Isn't it up to ED to correct that in one single go instead of us opening each mission, select a new preset and save again? Or is that part of the "fun"? 4 Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600.
