Hey guys. I've got a Saitek X52 Pro coming next week, just wondering if anyone could post up some tips for me to go about getting it setup to work with BS. Not sure if just using it as-is will do or not?

Also does anyone have a key profile setup for BS that could be used as a guide for setting my own up.

Thanks for any help!

currently I have a very old joystick, 6-7yrs old or so. its worn around the centre axis so i get alot of random movement in flight and struggle to hold the Ka-50 steady.

the X52 is supposed to have alot of stability at the centre is it not? hopefully it should improve the random movements!

The one thing I would personally recommend is that you try mapping the first stage trigger to uncage the cannon, the second to fire the cannon. If you choose recage the gun to trigger stage 1 release you get a very nice way of automatically firing whenever you want in a fluid motion. You will need to set delays to 0.001ms otherwise it works a bit intermittently.

Hey Man,

I've got one I've been working on. Just PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it. I posted a picture of it in another thread, and some nim-whit started insulting it and saying all of these things are wrong with it. Like I asked? Like I really care if he doesn't like it?

I know I didn't appreciate my work being insulted for no reason. I just don't understand some of these "people" sometimes, it is like they can only feel good by insulting what others do.

Personally, I like it. I have been working on it about a week, and I think I have everything set up nicely.

Let me know if you are interested.

I only use one button on my X52Pro mapped using the Saitek program. And that is just for Teamspeak PTT. Everything else I configured using the controller options in game. Just an option for you to try first.

yep yep I know that, I have the file extracted, it is a .pr0 file. Now how to import that as a profile in the x52 profiler? Couldn't get it to work.....anyone know? Thanks....

in WinXP the Saitek profiles go here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Saitek SD6 Profiles

you can open the profile using the SST menu, and save it wherever you like or the default directory... (above).

unless you have an older profile which is not compatible with the newest SST software and drivers... trying to figure out what you need... that's not clear..

Seems when I open the profiler, it is looking for a .dat file, not the .pr0 file....that is my problem. Where is the .dat file? Or better yet, if I had the .dat in the .zip along with the .pr0, it would probably work....thats why I can't load I do believe......

Thanks for the help......

.dat files were used by the earlier versions of the SST software. The current version uses .pro files.

You can download the new (current) version of the SST software, and current drivers from www.saitek.com

One thing to remember with the pro setup - the throttle isn't automatically mapped to collective, the slider bar is. You have to go into the game key mappings, under the 'ALL' dropdown, select 'Axis commands' (shown in red). You have to map Joy Z to collective there.

And personally I don't have any x52 pro keys mapped in game - it's all SST for me. This is because I use different modes and latches, eg, I don't want Fire A to exclusively fire cannons.

Thank you!! No wonder I couldn't open it. I just installed the cd that came with it....since it was new I figured it was current. That fixed the problem, I appreciate the help!!

You're most welcome. I don't know what led Saitek to make the change in their software. It has caused a lot of confusion and inconvenience. You're not the first to experience it, and you certainly won't be the last.

I have my old X36 and it's still working very well. But though the X45 looks the same on the outside, I heard they changed the innards to worse so maybe that's the reason. Anybody else still has an X36?

I also bought the X52 Pro recently because I'm working abroad and didn't want to drag the X36 along. I prefer the rudder on the X36 and the X52 is not stiff enough but it'll do. But now I have to buy the pro pedals because twisting the stick feels very impractical after the rocker switch on the X36.

BTW, the SST software is still unreliable after all these years. It's the only software which I have problems just to get it through the installation process. For instance, I cannot install the SD6 version of the SST for my X52Pro. The installation just adds those Magic devices, but the SST software itself doesn't get installed. Too bad dhauzimmer's not making drivers for this one, as well :)

eh, im happy for you, and I understand your excitement, but having bought my first x-52 only a few months ago, I wish I had just spent the money on a CH stick and throttle.

The x-52 breaks for seemingly no reason. The software is buggy, and the contacts wear out after very little use on some of the buttons. And since theres basically no warranty through Saitek, your stuck with it.

Oh well, I hope you guys have better luck with it than I have.

Dont let the smell get to ya...............
