You must try CAS.  Set it to 100 if you have a 4090.  No other sharpening or scaling is recommended with CAS.  It'

One more point on IPD settings, when you run the HP Eye Calibration software (Omnicept version of the G2), you can see the number of your IPD plus a green bar.  The green bar may not match up with your IPD, and it disappears after you pass the green bar.  Don't trust the green bar, slide the slider quickly to what you know is your IPD, and finish the calibration.  Then go into OpenXR and fine tune it with the World Scale setting.  I notice the World Scale reading changes when I change the slider in the calibration program, so it may be reading the hardware setting according to the calibration, but OpenXR overrides it to be more accurate.

What Eye Calibration Software are you referring to?  I don't recall seeing anything like this on the HP support site for the Reverb G2.  Can you direct me to this?  I'd like to try it.

Sorry, if you have the Omnicept version of the HP Reverb G2, it has TOBII eye tracking built into it.  I don't think this is available in the standard version.

That's the motherlode.  I set my IPD in OXRTK, but you can set in the DCS game settings as well.  I have not tried this.

You can also set your Custom Render Scale in OXRTK, your choice.

My thinking is the G2 was pushed out of the factory over spec'd and perhaps unfinished (now abandoned with HP leaving the headset market).  I started thinking, what if the FOV is too high, what if the resolution is too high, what if that IPD slider doesn't work very well?  I just decided to take the 'heat' off the headset by lowering the resolution, and fine tune the view by shrinking the FOV and world scale.  Seems to work.

I have a question for @mbucchia: if I set my OXR Custom Resolution to 75% and I set OXRTK NIS scaling to 66%, will it render at 66% of 75% and scale back up to 75% (OXR setting), or will it scale up to 100% (native resolution)?  My understanding is that OXR 75% is like running a 4k monitor at 3k, and adding NIS 66% would be like telling it to render at 2k and scale up to 3k.

I've wondered this myself numerous times. 🙂

Additionally (as i understand it) , IPD in your HMD and IPD in the game serve different purposes.

Exactly this. It's not ''mislabeled'' it's misunderstood. One is about aligning the lenses with your physical eyes, and the other is positioning for the two ingame cameras you are ''viewing'' through (technically the same thing, but the practical effect is different). The first one needs to be as close to your physical eye dimensions as possible or you will get distortion, headaches, fuzziness, etc. The second one is adjusted to taste.

I got a 30% clarity boost by simply cleaning my G2 lenses and my VR Optician lenses. 🙂
