The AGM-65L allows to set the laser PRF code via DSMS, but also via the MAV page. On the MAV page, there is a fifth position that can be set to an empty value (default) or "C". The manual says:

Quote

After inputting the four-digit PRF code, the user may move the cursor to the fifth position (right most) and set countermeasure mode on (when the cursor is in this position, it will not flash). This is done by cycling the Boat switch aft. When active, a “C” will be displayed.

I couldn't find any other mention of what this countermeasure mode is or does in the manual. Does anyone have any info what this is? And does it have any effect in DCS?

IIRC its an anti-anti-laser counter measure system, ie it attempts to get arround anti laser countermeasures, as DCS dosnt have anti laser countermeasures, not great ground AI, and no counter counter measures its not implemented IIRC

Thanks! So it's more like a counter-countermeasure?

Am I right in assuming that modern vehicles or installations can be equipped with both laser detector and laser transmitter equipment so that they can "blind" or otherwise spoof laser seekers like the one in the AGM-65L, on the set PRF? Basically like radar jamming, just in another part of the EM spectrum?

Since the "jammer" can't really know where the weapon is coming from, would this type of laser spoofing be more or less all over the sky? I guess it would have to cover the same arc or basket that the weapon and the designator have to use, right?

I think that is one of the much-touted anti-missile defenses of newer Russian tanks.  I thought I recall the emitters facing forward on the turret, so I suspect the turret would have to be pointing towards the missile.

Oh wow, never knew that was a thing. I can't even begin to imagine the stuff techies on both sides (countermeasures and counter-countermeasures) must be going through in this race.
