Known issues

  • Firing M982 Excalibur doesn't produce a muzzle flash due to DCS limitations

Usage

  • In Mission Editor use Fire at point and use Unguided for M1711 and Guided for M982.
  • The trajectory for the M982 isn't perfect, I had to workaround DCS limitations as usual. 😅

Hi, Currenthill, it's me again.  Having played around with your most recent releases, the PzH 2000, NASAMS, and the CJ-10 cruise missile launcher, I find them all to be brilliant additions to DCS.  Whenever you are ready to take new suggestions, would you consider bringing us some German Navy ships like the F123, F124, and F125 series of frigates?  There are some decent-looking 3d models of them on Turbosquid, each available for about 40 EUR or 480 SEK.  The possible benefit of these ships is that they're all based on the MEKO series of ships by Blohm Und Voss so you may be able to reuse and rescale existing elements and adapt them for your future projects.

The influence of CH’s mods has become too great. Lots of GrimReapers videos on youtube, over a hundred thousand views here in this thread. I think EDs already wince when they see the phrase "due to the limitations of  DCS." The release of an updated Combined Arms.CH edition it's a matter of the near future.

 But unexpectaple things can also happen, for example, ED will improve mechanics and encrypt all configs, as it is now done with some units. This will bring more limitations.

Yeah, I really hope ED sees my work as a contribution rather than any sort of competition. Especially since I do it for free to extend the world of DCS and our enjoyment of it. 👍🏻

A few questions:          1) The name of the shells Excalibur-I don't have-just-a SHELL               2)Is it possible to give the projectile laser targeting from JTAC(I tried it myself-something doesn't work out)-and that's why the AI never hit moving targets                     3)As I understand it-the player can't shoot Excalibur?Maybe it would be possible to shoot using JTAC?

The M982 is considered a missile by DCS, all about workarounds when creating these things. And it can definitely be shot down, I've tested it against both Pantsirs and C-RAMs.

I tried interception right away😉,   I am interested in whether the player can shoot Excalibur, whether Excalibur can destroy moving targets (I tried-it does not hit), whether it is possible to use JTAC to help Excalibur, why there is no name Excalibur

I'm worry about it either ,but I think that ED's earn is from flyable aircraft,  the other mods are all belong to a part of war field environment, so these mods are not competitor but partners.

I hope that ED can become a virtual world which is full of vigour because of its open and condones .

My version of the M982 is only GPS guided, so it doesn't have the laser addition like some of the most recent IRL versions. That's why it can only hit stationary targets.

Aah, I got it, and I'm sitting here lighting up with a laser😂

and what about the names of the shells on the F10 map, the names are spelled out correctly in the files

They are not shells by DCS interpretation, so they won't display as such.

The US Army bought and used a Laser guided 155mm artillery round they called the M712 Copperhead round.  17KM range and could hit moving targets.  There was a HUGE problem that the Army never managed to effectively fix.  The copperhead rounds would often times target the Forward Observer Laser instead of the lased target.  It meant that the rounds were only useful if the lasers were pointing away from the friendly gun emplacements.  The new Excalibur rounds were designed as GPS rounds specifically to overcome the Copperhead deficiencies of killing their Forward Observers.  The weakness of the Excalibur was losing the ability to hit moving targets.  There were plans for a GPS guided artillery round with an automated terminal guidance,  but the program lost funding before completion.  Development continues with such ammunition for the MLRS but has not delivered yet.

A huge shout out to Currenthill! I have tested the PzH 2000 SPG  and I haven't seen any issues! It's truly an amazing Mod! So thank you Currenthill for all your hard work, it's greatly appreciated by me and the DCS World Community!

I also appreciate the work so I would like to add my criticism as gently as I can.   The ammunition accuracy is exceptional, my compliments. The only problem  problem I am trying to work around is the fire rate.  These cannons should fire 4 rounds per minute for 1 minute and then 1 round per minute there after.  The 1st minute is about the crew loading ability and the time after the first minute is about keeping barrel temperatures within operational limits.  Unfortunately the system in place waits until the round has struck or has been destroyed in flight before firing the next round.  I request to modify the shooting parameters so this cannon can fire a second round while the round previous is still airborne.  After all, genuine artillery can sometimes have 4 rounds in the air simultaneously from the same gun.  

  I apologize if I sound overly negative as I certainly cannot make these modifications on my own.  I appreciate the artistry of your work and hope sincerely that I have not left you uninspired through criticism.
