Starspeed Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) I completet the whole mission, after that Paco and I went refueling. After I finished I gave thumbs up via F10 and Paco refueled (i.e. he flew 100ft the tanker and after 2mins or so the note came up that he finished) with me flying right wing off the tanker. After he finished he announced we would RTB, Chig switched channels, I got a sholder tab via coms etc., but Paco never rtb'ed. He just flew off the left wing of the tanker. After I burned 4k of my refueled 3k, I decided to head home alone. Finding the CV was pretty hard because of a messed up alignment after Jester dialing in the DP (that might be a DCS bug though, had that issue some times before). Landing on the carrier wasn't possible though, cause a helicopter was blocking the landing area. Hope that helps finding the issue or pointing out if I did something wrong. Solution Reflected Posted February 15, 2023 Solution Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) Thanks for the feedback! yeah you did nothing wrong. It’s a DCS AI bug that is messing with all campaigns: ED is working on a solution. good job finding the carrier on your own though. The helo will eventually take off and the deck should be open at the briefed recovery time. But for the next update I removed the blocker helos because sometimes the ai doesn’t care and just lands through them. I wanted to simulate cyclic ops and recovery times. I arrived at the carrier way past the expected recovery time due to the time I spent waiting for Paco and the trouble finding the carrier. So I guess removing the helo was a good thing. Thanks for your answer though and thank you for this awesome campaign anyway! Had a blast going through the rag and first missions in this realistic szenario. 1
Lt_Jaeger Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) OK, I got a problem as well. Is chig updating the Man / DefP waypoint during the mission? I flew back to that point and searched like up to 40 miles out heading 015ish, even so to my calculations the carrier would have traveled only around 20 miles. The closest I ever came to the leading Tico was around 10 miles and I never spotted her, because the whole fleet thingy was like 20 miles behind the waypoint. Got very frustrated after like 30 minutes of ever growing search pattern. Most frustrating, looking at tacview, I was dead right, I would have navigated right on top of the carrier, if just of that WP would have been on the launch point. Long story short, I believe the WP is around 40 miles to far to the north north east. Edited February 27, 2023 by Lt_Jaeger
Roosterfeet Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I found the carrier in 12 but I cheated by using the radio. You can't actually call marshal but your built in pilot will say distance and bearing from mother when you make an inbound call, even if you're on the wrong frequency. Whenever I fly with stock wingmen, I keep track of their fuel like that too. As far as I can tell, "low state" is always the lowest fuel level in the flight. 5800x3D, rtx4070, Quest3 (sometimes)

I just double checked, DP is the launch point, Chig doesn't update it, and that's where he switches when you turn for home from the target. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

Strange, that WP was like 40 miles more to the north than supposed to be. I will see again into what's going on. Have to re-fly the mission anyhow, since my "play through" stream got messed up somehow. Is there a chance of breaking things if I hop in the back to check coordinates at launch and later down the road? Not wanting to input stuff, but there might be something fishy going on, so I would like to check.
Reflected Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) No that shouldn't break anything. But you'll find it on the kneeboard too I think, the built in HB one. It may have been INS drift, maybe high g-s? Edited February 28, 2023 by Reflected Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Lt_Jaeger Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Was all in tolerance, never exceeded 6.5,no sudden onset, everything looked fine. To bad I can't check the video, but like I said, will do it again. Maybe Paco will deceide this time to take me home. Last time he almost rammed me twice during AAR, crazy Bastard.
andygg Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Paco will head back to the carrier if something happens to the tanker.....(must have been a bird strike)
Jayhawk1971 Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Probably a flock of migrating Sparrows. A huge problem in Carrier aviation. 1
