I don't care about the model - but why is it called an E-2D in the mission editor? That tiny meta data fix would have prevented this entirely.

You mean someone won't edit one file and change a D to a C?!

Okay, I just thought this was a place to register bugs and have them addressed...

Don't get me wrong: it still is the best place to report DCS bugs. But when devs answer "won't do", there's no need to argue.

Fixing this would be a breaking change so might to break existing missions. Why it would be a bad idea to address this now

It’s never a bad idea to fix bugs.

As Flappie has mentioned this is a known issue, you will need to continue to be patient, some issues take longer than others.
