CommandT Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Hi Folks, Making a DCS mission and wondering if Canadian CF-18s use JHAMCS and AIM-9Xs? Many Thanks!
Nickelmouse Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) My admittedly uneducated and cynical guess is: “fat chance” I’d love to be wrong though Edited March 3, 2023 by Nickelmouse

AIM-9X block 2 since late 2020 I believe, the aircraft were capable of JHMCS use just prior. 1 1 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -

trevoC Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 We have a special ordnance we drop. Canoes filled with slightly more aggressive and less apologetic beavers. Don't laugh, they inhabit the area at the mouths of rivers leading to large cities and create damns which slowly floods the area and cuts off the water supply downstream. Its sort of the long game but is a really dick move in the end. 3 AMD 7900x3D | Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero | 64GB DC DDR5 6400 Ram | MSI Suprim RTX 4090 Liquid X | 2 x Kingston Fury 4TB Gen4 NVME | Corsair HX1500i PSU | NZXT H7 Flow | Liquid Cooled CPU & GPU | HP Reverb G2 | LG 48" 4K OLED | Winwing HOTAS

CommandT Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 Do you guys by any chance know what is the standard CF-18 circuit to land? Assume they don't fly the usual US Navy 800ft/ 350kts to break?
Dragon1-1 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 On land, pattern altitude and direction varies by airport. Check the approach plates, the info should be there.

What approach plates? Approach plates are for instrument approaches generally, not a for a standard visual circuit to land normally.
Dragon1-1 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 VOCs: You've got approach plates for both IFR and VFR. In this case, pattern is at 2500ft MSL, and there's a small one for ultralights at 1800ft MSL, with restrictions. The pattern depends on a variety of things, including obstacles, populated areas and wind. There are airports where flying a pattern is prohibited, too (and a few where it's downright impossible).

Saguanay Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I do believe that the break is pretty much standard. ATC / airfield traffic dependant of course.

Canada doesnt have VFR approach charts. All patterns are 1000 ft AGL left hand turns unless otherwise stated in the CFS (Canada Flight Supplement aka the dictionnary with every single airports info). This is the civilian way. Not sure what the RCAF does though...
cordite Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Canadian charts are available for free on fltplan.com; I believe it requires an account. You’ll notice it’s pretty much as hip3rion says, even for RCAF only aerodromes.
