Yes, it is. If you roll back to version 2.8.3.37556 of March 10, there is a good chance that the CTD will disappear. I started having crashes at the same time, so I rolled back to that MT version.

@BIGNEWY So far, everything fits together. All 5700 GPUs have the same crash start time, the same error, the version that started to fail on AMD is OB 2.8.3.37854.1

thanks I will mention it to the team

I did it already, and still CTD happens. However, I've not enabled yet VSYNC and now thinking, that maybe forcing the slow down of graphics generation with this parameter may have some positive effect...

I always used to have VSYNC on, and turned if off as part of my troubleshooting efforts, which actually reduced my GPU load a little. It didn't stop the crashes, but it still seems like a step in the right direction.

My crashes occur when I turn off MSAA. I don't use msaa it does not smooth the clouds or transparencies looks horrible. I set in VR PD 1.5 while using max res of quest2. I get better frame rates than pd 1.0 msaa 4x

I believe I have already sent around 20 autocrash reports.

Turned off VSYNC, turned it on in the driver. Turned Visibility down to high - crashed after a few minutes.

@WWSmith  Tell me more about this point please: -added TdrDelay and TdrDdiDelay registry keys

I learned about it from this thread:

https://forum.dcs.world/topic/252769-crash-switching-from-f1-view-to-f10-and-back/

There's a good tutorial here:

https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/gpu-drivers-crash-with-long-computations-128745489.html

I played a couple more hours this morning with no crash. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Here's my registry that I am trying to use now with MT:

null

Tested with VSYNC enabled, and received CTD after few minutes of flight...

Unfortunately I eventually had another crash, even with the registry edit. It seems to have helped, because before the CTDs were constant when playing with multithreading, but it hasn't eliminated the problem.

Flappie may have such information, as he was actively supporting other thread about the black rectangles issue, which seems to hit mostly 5700XT owners...

Сould you give me a link to a solution to this problem? My screen sometimes flashes with a black square on the left.

I don't think it was confirmed as resolved yet.

Hello,

I also have a RX 5700 XT and, like you, I have the same problem. For me, the up-to-date AMD drivers crash every 5 minutes.

At the moment, the only solution I have found is to use the 22.5.1 drivers and not play in MT. Since the last update, I thought the problem was solved, so I tried playing in MT while still using the 22.5.1 drivers, but I had the crash again.

On my end, I have noticed that crashes occur very often in Syria and less often in Caucasus.

Yes, AMD drivers in MT cause crashes since OB 2.8.3.37854.1. I have a fresh driver 23.4.1 installed - with it also permanent crashes in MT. The only solution so far is to abandon MT and use ST. In this mode I had to reduce some settings to remove freezing, which in MT did not occur at high settings, but so far in the fresh OB in ST there were no crash.

I agree that ST is stable in the current OB.

Syria is a very GPU-intensive map, probably the worst in that regard, while Caucasus is probably the least so. On the other hand, for me anyway, the CTDs haven't been related to GPU workload. As part of my troubleshooting efforts, I was checking the resource monitor during flight, and the GPU might only be running at ~75% and 50 C when DCS crashes.

Interesting the mention of the 5700xt in this thread.  That's the card I use.  MT is a no go for me at this stage.

The 5700xt is mentioned here because on MT the AMD drivers cause a crash on this particular GPU.

5700 XLT Thicc here, exact same problems. MT is impossible to run after first MT hot fix. Absolutely, no problems in ST.

Just in case, try this:

  1. Go to "Saved Games/DCS.../Config".
  2. Rename "options.lua" to "options.lua.bak".
  3. Run MT DCS and see if it keeps crashing.

@Ergo 1-1 Sharko I see you're using Windows 10 "N" version. Installing Windows "Media Feature Pack" might solve your issue (it seems to help, see here).

@Ergo 1-1 Sharko Did it help?

Another case here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/327077-dcs-keeps-crashing-in-vr-after-a-couple-of-minutes/

To eveyone here who posted their DxDiag log: I see you're all using a Windows "Pro" version. I'm not sure it has anything to do with this, but that's all I can find for now. If any of you has another PC with Windows Home, please try to reprocuce this issue on Windows Home.

@NBee Can you please tell us if you're also using a Windows "Pro" version?

@Flappie

Just an update I have not experienced any crashes for a long time, only problem I’m having is temporary blackouts lasting 2-3 sec in the headset (HP reverb v2) when playing.
But I don’t know if this is related to DCS, Nvidia driver, my Graphics card, or my headset.

I’m using:
DCS MT beta latest version + OpenXRToolkit + Tacview.

Edition    Windows 11 Pro
Version    22H2
Installed on    ‎21-‎09-‎2022
OS build    22621.1778
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22642.1000.0
Processor    AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor              3.60 GHz
Installed RAM    32,0 GB
Graphic card: RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G
Nvidia Driver version: 532.03 (without Experience)
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hi @Flappie

sorry for the late response. I had already installed the pack a long time ago, so I can't say anything about it. Since the last issues, I haven't been playing with the MT version. I will test it again soon. Currently, I am not experiencing any problems with the old drivers and the non-MT version.

I will ask if there are any 5700 XT owners on the testing team.

Is any progress being made on this front? It seems like anyone with a 5700 XT can't run MT, myself included. I've attached a crash log from the most recent OB, which still has this bug. There's also another recent thread about this issue:

Hallo!

I have the same problems with crashes in VR. I stated already my logs in this forum and was linked to this thread. However, I rolled bak to 2.8.4 29731 and didnt had a crash since then. My GPU is RTX 4080 so it is not AMD only...

Anybody else with this behaviour?
