Clifton19 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Just bought 2 MFDs and display screens from Winwing for the F18. The displays are very dim when using FLIR, even after adjusting the gain and contrast. Winwing say it's a DCS issue. Any advice please on how to increase the brightness. Thanks. 1
rob10 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) Unfortunately WinWing is right and this is currently a DCS issue with ALL exports to MFD's (not just a WinWing hardware issue, the same for any exported MFD's by any company). There is currently no solution, but ED is aware and working on the problem. However, they have stated that it's a more complex problem to fix than they had initially expected, so don't expect a fix in the near future. And as a side note, this is related to being unable to dim or use night mode on the MFD's on your main screen if you're exporting them. Edited March 20, 2023 by rob10 1

Ouch. This one has been around since forever... this probably means we won't be getting a fix anytime soon (not a criticism, just probably not a priority).

Bignewy acknowledged both and it sounded like they were working on it and discovered it was harder to fix than they thought it was going to be. I take that as a good sign that they are working on it and it's one of those issues that will suddenly appear fixed in an update one of these days.
markom Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) I would be absolutely delighted if your optimism translated into reality with one of the upcoming releases! Edited March 20, 2023 by markom

Clifton19 Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 Thank you. I did use Reshade i9n the end and it does work perfectly!
Aronis Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Read the posts, watch the video, all I have to say is ARRRRGGGG......more WORK.....This Sim is WORK LOL. Just set up my MFD and Displays and found this issue with Targeting pod. Come on DCS coders......you ....can .....do .....it.... Mike
Aronis Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Oh, found Monitorian program that lets you INCREASE Brightness of USB monitors. It's about 10 percent brighter, but it does help. Downside, only lets you work with 4 monitors and I have 5. Not sure how to FORCE windows to let me number them so I can force Monitorian just adjust the ones I want. Mike 1
GumidekCZ Posted January 31 Posted January 31 @NineLine Please, can the ED team finally fix the DIMM export after such a long time since the problem was reported? Many thanks. 1

Thanks for the update. I definitely don't understand the dark art of computer coding. I'm planning on buying three WW MFDs this month for use in my F/A-18C simpit, I'll give Reshade and Monitorian a try, but really hoping it's not a mistake spending the money if they can't be seen. 1 i5-12600K @ 3.7GHz ¦ 32GB DDR4 RAM ¦ 12GB GeForce RTX 4070-Super ¦ Windows 11 Home ¦ 1TB NVME SSD ¦ Samsung 32” Odyssey Neo G7 4K 165 Hz Curved Monitor ¦ TM Warthog HOTAS ¦ TM Flight Rudder Pedals ¦ Winwing UFC-HUD, PTO2, 3x MFD1 ¦ TrackIR 5

They're perfectly visible (esp. if you use Reshade). If you don't use reshade then you may find the main screen versions too bright at night or else the WW MFD versions too dim if you turn the screens down. Daytime it really isn't an issue either way. 1

Shai-Nomos Posted February 6 Posted February 6 You can use any tool which can adjust brightness in Windows, like Twinkle Tray from msstore
