Nice gun that. Hits everything, except what you aim for :D

The video (not one of these) where they ask to use Hellfire instead of 30mm since the missile will couse less collateral damage says it all.

Nice movie, cannon fire is great :D

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Unless you're one of the guys who has to clean up the area afterwards and identify the bodies. C'mon a bit of respect?

No running from that helicopter though, nasty.

Too many cowboys. Not enough indians.

That 30mm seems pretty useless.

When you become aware of the deflection angle of the gun, the aircraft's speed, and the range of the shot, you would think differently.

That being said, there is a reason that the Hellfire is the "Point Target Weapon System (PTWS)" and the gun is the "Area Weapon System (AWS)".

Yes, it's usefull at picking out unarmed people (not questioning their innocence here) running in the streets, but pull that stunt in a real battelfield and whushhhhhhhhhh bang. You're dead. No chance for that second and third attempt.

I was only saying have some respect, it's a real weapon system and those were real lives. (Someone without an AK is just as dangerous in terms of setting off a roadside bomb with his mobile phone then running home).

Too many cowboys. Not enough indians.

Again, I do not wish to raise the question of guilt here of either those people on the ground, or people in the helicopter. I'm just saying they had no means of returning fire aginst the helicopter, and that is why it had the luxury of having a retry at getting them.

+1 Posting video's of others losing their life's is a bit wrong and disrespectful. TBH if anyone enjoy's watching these type's of video's then there's something wrong with you.

First, I find your implication that these are not real battlefields to be insulting. My good friend CW4 Keith Yoakum would no doubt agree.

I'm assuming that by "real battlefield" you're referring to some sort of major land battle between two large, modern forces. In which case, I think it's rather simplistic to assume that these same tactics would be employed. You call it a "stunt", I say it's the right tactic for the right situation.

If AH-64 Gun is not accurate, think about Ka-50s or Mi-28s I would think that be even worse.

The gun on the AH-64 tends to be inaccurate when shooting 90 degrees to the side at 70 knots from 1500 meters. The majority of AH-64 gun engagements in Iraq are done this way while the Apache circles the target and shoots to the side. Not very accurate, but it's safer than overflying your target and allows you more time to observe and engage. The gun is actually very accurate at ranges under 1000 meters and at targets in front of the aircraft. It should be remembered, of course, that the gun was not designed to be incredibly accurate, it was designed to suppress area targets at long ranges (2500-4500 meters).

Ka-50 is semi rigid mount so has a trade off for target engagement envelope vs accuracy. As mentioned above it is a side fire attack at speed whereas a BS would have to do a funnel at 1.5km and at 70 knots to accomplish the same.

You would think wrong.

I believe in the story that it works as designed, I just don't like it. It's easy to create a spray if needed, but no way to make an inheretly inaccurate gun hit a spot.

I refer to attacking any real army with an organized air defense. I'm not saying that those people targeted can not incure damage to their enemy, and I am aware of the fact that they frequently do. But not against a helicopter, in that phase of the flight.
