RogerRamjet Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I get this "You're a little slow" call from the LSO during final. I'm on speed according to the E-Bracket and I consistently trap the 2 or 3 wire. What am I missing? 1
near_blind Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) You're not missing anything, and it's not your fault. The LSO calls were built by ED with the hornet in mind. The turkey is on speed at a higher AoA than the bug, so the LSO constantly calls you slow. vJello needs to stop sipping torpedo juice and work on his visual identification Edited April 13, 2023 by near_blind 4

As near_blind said, unfortunately the LSO is programmed only to use the Hornet's AoA to determine the speed callouts, so in any aircraft with a different on-speed AoA than the Hornet, you'll get erroneous speed callouts (and the same will apply to the A-6E, A-7E and whatever naval Phantom we get). Personally, the LSO should be prgrammed to read the AoA indexer repeater lights on the nose gear strut as that's what they do IRL. 4 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. This. But that still doesn’t solve IFLOLS or PLAT aiming. ED needs to just train their LSO on the Tomcat. Or make an APK for 3rd party to do it soon. Because F-4 navy, A-6, A-7, and F-8 are all in the Charlie stack. 5
RogerRamjet Posted October 14, 2024 Author Posted October 14, 2024 I know this thread is old, but has anyone asked ED to look into this? If not, where would one make such a request? 2
RustBelt Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Many, many times. They’ll do it when they do it. And not a moment sooner. Same as it ever was. 3

Make a new mission in Caucasus where you're in F-14A/B on final approach with any CVN. Fly correct glide path, notice wrong LSO callouts. Stop about the touchdown, save a track.
