Will changing player aircraft type in a DLC Campaign mission break it?

Hi all,

I want to take a mission from a DLC campaign and within the mission editor, change the aircraft type for the player's unit. Will this break the mission for some reason I can't think of? I assume all the triggers should still work?

Actually I just realised that after making changes to this DLC mission in the ME, the "save" or "save as" options are greyed out! Why is that? Any way round it? I had copied and renamed the said mission before starting to tinker with it.

yes, the reason being that the campaign is protected so that the user is forced to respect the license terms of use.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Ah I see! That's a shame 😞

the original question still kind of is valid for non-copy-protected missions.

Say I download one for the M2000, but I switch the 2K to an F16, keeping the same unit/group names.  Would that break the mission?

probably not.

It will break missions that use cockpit-specific arguments (set them, or depend on some setting to trigger something, for example set radio frequency). Luckily, few missions use them, but there is a remote possibility that they do, and then there is the likelihood that some (maybe important) aspect of the mission does not work as intended.

There is no way to save edited copy protected missions from the Mission Editor, however they CAN BE LAUNCHED (from the Editor) - so if making simple changes i.e. substituting the player aircraft, and you don't mind re-editing the mission each time you play, it's a work around.

For example i've ...
• flown a WWII introductory mission using the Gazelle to sightsee / attack German tanks lol
• and flew the L-39ZA in a F-86 Sabre Museum Relic mission

As noted, mission triggers are often module specific, so don't expect too much, however simple edits can be "fun" provided the still AI spawns, etc.

Thanks, yep I figured out the deal. The campaign mission I am flying seems to work 100% using a different aircraft module so at least that's good!
