Shibiswag Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Just got into DCS VR and boy wow, loving it, though which much headaches and trial and error to get the settings right in order to be able to play it. Though one thing is a constant, I get really good stable FPS in cockpit/other views, however, the moment i open the f10 map than go back to F1 or any other view, the frame rates drop below playable, i have to close the game completely and restart it in order to fix it. Anyone else experienced this issue? I have seen other people on Reddit having the same problem but these post were from 1+ year ago and cannot find any current info. If needed to I can provide a video showing the frame rate drop as when I did a track file replay there wasn't an issue with it.
Bio Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Yup, plenty of topics about it that seem to just get ignored, not even specific to VR For example: The issues is caused by the multi threading (MT) version of the game. If you use the ST version, you won't see that problem. It is caused by over usage of VRAM most likely. Most posts i've seen are from 8/10/12 gb vram users and most of the time is caused by Syria map but other will eventually cause that too. You only have 3 options i found to work reliably 1 - Use single threaded version of the game, yes you loose FPS but if you're playing multiplayer and simple single player missions with reprojection you won't even notice it that much 2 - After you get that issue, alt-tab to another full screen application and close your headset by putting it in standby, wait 15ish seconds until you hear the GPU fans winding down and go back to the game. 3 - Don't open the map, ever Edited June 9, 2023 by Bio

Thank god the Apache by default has a lot of target data plugged into the TSD upon spawning in. However for warbirds, it's a headache as every time I try to get headings with the ruler tool in F10, I know I'm pulling like a 20% chance risk that popping back into F1 will ruin my game session and force me to restart DCS. I haven't found turning the headset off and alt+tabbing to work either. Moxica Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) Joining the "club" to bump. I am avoiding the use of F10 map, because it is so risky. With my old Quest2, I could just alt tab out of the problem. But that does not work with current Reverb G2 I'm not 100% sure, but it would seem that stuttering through the sky a while, and hitting F10 coupla times more, slowly calms things down. But mostly, I have to quit and restart. -Not so fun after flying 60 clicks in the Gazelle. Hiob Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 This problem - for better or worse - is not unique to VR. And I'd like to add, that I don't believe in the VRAM-hypothesis. For the simply reason, that a clocked VRAM usually shows in stutters, but the reduced FPS after using the F10 map is still butter smooth (depending on your overall fps of course), except less then before. But whatever the reason is, I hope they'll find it. "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

samolyet Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I found something that 60% percent of the time that works every time (made with bits of real panther) is if I pause the game and then hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, go into task manager, click once on another process just to highlight it and then click on DCS.exe just to highlight it and then I close out Task manager and unpause the game - most times I get the framerate restored. This is with the MT version after I foolishly opened the F10 map. i7-8086K, ASUS Prime Z370-A MB, G Skill TridentZ 64 GB DDR4 3733, Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme RTX 2080Ti
Magic Zach Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Still no word? This bug should take pretty high precedence imo, it's been turning me away from DCS lately because it's not worth flying VR without ever referring to the map at all Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 3090, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4-3200, Samsung 860 EVO, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk. The_Nephilim Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 (edited) Well I dont wan to sound like I am harping but all of you that claimed this issue and not one of you posted a trk or log file. how can ED Find it if they have no proof of it or sommthing they can see to try and determine what is going on.. I seen a similar post and I posted my dcs.log file but I did not see it happen when going from F10 to F1 and I pressed it several times. so I don't think it is DCS I mean it is to an extent but if it happens then it should happen to everybody.. maybe if you guys post some logs and trk files ED could get to the bottom of it. buit since they have nothing to go on do you really expect ED to fix this out of the blue just because you said it happened without the log or trk files it is hot air..
