Eisprinzessin Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Hi there! I try to make it understandable as possible. For example: There is a squad of 4 SU25T inbound with a SU27 as Escort. I have them on the Radar in around 40 miles. They are al sticking togeater nearby. Now the question: How can i lock the SU27 first, since the other 4 guy are no really thread for me. Is there a way to see WHAT i lock? Mostly i got shot down from the 27 because i fire my AMRAAMS on the Frogfoots... In SA i can step through the Targets and in lower right corner i see which one it is, but i can not lock them there.... Sorry to bother you, but thats a real issue for me... Thanks in advance Specs: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.20 GHz, RAM 128 GB, Win11 Home, RTX3080Ti

Fakesz Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 There is also raid mode on the radar page. (I think FLIR/Raid button on hotas). That will zoom the radar on the specified region. Maybe it will help to select the su27.

Thanks in advance At that distance, with 4 targets, RAID will absolutely split them out for you, but against AI I'd recommend staying in TWS. A human might realize an F/A-18 can lob an AMRAAM at a particular distance, but I don't know that the AI takes that into consideration. If you can identify them on the SA page just use that information to lock the same target over on the radar. They're both top down and relative locations should give you the clues you need. It might help to decenter SA so you can range closer than the center view allows. Another option might be AZZEL; you can use relative altitudes; if the -27 is higher than the froggies and SA will give you that information as well. Another suggestion is not to drive straight at them. Flank a bit and that might help with separation, just remember the -27 can lob long range IR missiles and you'll never get any kind of warning prior to the sudden deconstruction of your aircraft. Keep them in the gimbal limits and just assume the -27 is firing missiles once you get in range and defend accordingly. 1
Solution MarkyMark Posted June 14, 2023 Solution Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) The new VS radar mode can be helpful as well. If you track 5 bricks and 1 of them moves higher up on the scope, it’s approaching faster and you can assume it’s the fighter heading to engage. Edited June 14, 2023 by MarkyMark 1
MarkyMark Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Oh. I didn’t see this posted. I totally forgot. You can use the AZEL while switching targets to get an actual unit type as well. It will be appear in the AZEL screen. It has target identification built in, if they are headed towards you, using engine blades to determine type. I think IFF needs to be on “AI” mode to,use but I’m. It sure, that’s what I normally use.
Razor18 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 By the time NCTR IDs you the contact type, you are way too close, with a missile probably already in the air from the escort, with your adress on it...
