dave76 Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 well, do you guys feel something is wrong with flight dynamics...; for example it is almost stalled at 170/180 knots in landing clean conf? sure heavier than an f16 but wing loading should be not so high if you land it is impossible to stop on the rwy with speedbrakes out and normal braking?
razo+r Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) What weight do you have if you stall at 170 kts in landing config? I see people fly normal approaches at 160 kts. Edited June 25, 2023 by razo+r
dave76 Posted June 25, 2023 Author Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) clean aircraft, less than 80 % fuel , i think it was 56000/57000 lbs maybe even less, speedbrakes out , temp 20 qnh 1013...... i feel it very less stable.... Edited June 25, 2023 by dave76
bfr Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I've found it OK, in fact probably one of the easier modules to get back on the ground and the only time I touched down at 170 was down to me just coming in too hot on a direct approach. It also seems a lot more stable under full braking, even if it does need a bit of room to come to a stop in. It'd be interesting to see if you did it again and precisely how much weight you were carrying to get those problems.
Rainmaker Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Normal landing weights are going to be with less than 5K of gas. You guys are asking for user induced issues.
Rainmaker Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I can't see any bugs related to this. This sounds more like being overweight, and if stalling, pulling too much AoA for the given weight.
some1 Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 F-15 has the largest fuel tanks of all flyable aircraft in DCS. More than three times than F-16. Fully fuelled, it's also the heaviest. You don't land it normally with "80%" of fuel. 14 hours ago, dave76 said: i think it was 56000/57000 lbs That's twice the weight of a fully fuelled F-16. When landing heavy (not advisable) make sure the runway is long enough to begin with, aim the touch down precisely, don't even try to force it if you baloon it over 1/3 of the runway, don't aerobrake, extend the speedbrake fully, put the nosewheel down right after TD and start wheelbraking as soon as possible, gently move the stick full aft for more aerobraking force (but don't let the nose raise).
