Is there any way to work with a JTAC yet? For example, in a Liberation mission, if you use the default JTAC, he gives you a 9-line consisting of MGRS coordinates and a laser spot. Since we don’t yet have MGRS entering capabilities, is there a laser spot track function on the TPOD or anything? Are we out of luck until a bit further into development?

Thanks all

Yes, the JTAC will need to mark the target with smoke or an IR pointer.
Once identified, you can drop a LGB on the target, while the JTAC guides it with his laser.

The LANTIRN FLIR Targeting Pod doesn't have a spot tracker.

I don't know if UTM data entry is on Razbam's "roadmap" but the LST capable Litening II Targeting Pod is scheduled as part of the first CTU (2010) update.

Ok, makes sense. Is there a way to get the JTAC in Liberation to use smoke instead of laser? Doesn't seem like you can "ask" them to use one mark-type vs another. I'm guessing in mission editor somewhere?

For some reason I just can't get that to work reliably in the F-15E: I put the estimated point-of-impact exactly where the smoke is with the TGP and adjust mid-flight but for some reason the bomb still decides to fly to Narnia instead... I don't recall ever having this problem with another module... I remember unreliable AUTO-mode bombing being mentioned in the known-issues at release, but still if anyone got it to work I'd be interested in hearing how...

The various GBUs dropped by F15E seem to not all work consistently at all. The only one I seem to get to work every single time, without error, is the paveway III with it set to Nose fusing.

From what I remember, liberation JTACs will smoke and laser automatically... Without any communication needed by the player.

Will there be an MGRS option here for entering Lat/Long positions? The UFC could then be used to input data and direct the TPOD to the target directly.

Yes, but what interests me most we would be able to enter 9-line from DCS JTAC. 😉

You asked if it will be possible to enter MGRS coordinates (aka Grid, aka UTM) provided by JTAC as a part of 9-line.

The manual explicitly says yes, later in EA. On multiple occasions.
