Hello,

Recently I have been doing some tinkering with the sound setup in my hobby room, and I have also been flying some other modules than the F-14 (hard to believe, I know) which made me realise something.
There are default tickboxes withing the DCS option menu for "loud afterburner" and a slider for "switches volume", but those don't work with the F-14 (which is understandable since HeatBlur pioneered those sounds).

Now, I understand HB taking a bit of artistic freedom with the implementation of sounds you wouldn't normally hear to compensate for the lack of "seat of the pants" feeling one could get in a real jet, but I'd like those things to be optional rather than turned on all the time, and I would like those things to be consistent across modules as well and respect the tickboxes within the general DCS settings.

For example: in the recently released F-15E all you hear in the cockpit is the ECS (which as far as I understand is realistic), but in the F-14 you also hear afterburner sounds and the clicking of switches.
Is it possible to tie these sounds to the DCS option menu in that the afterburner as it is now requires you to have "loud afterburner" ticked, but those who want those sounds to be less loud (or even absent altogether in cockpit view) can leave that unticked?
Same with the clicking of switches: as cool as that was initially I find that after these few years since release personally I'd rather be able to turn that off, so if the F-14 clicking can be tied to the general DCS "switches volume" slider that would solve that issue.

For people such as myself who have physical detents in our throttles, hearing the afterburner is not needed to know when reheat is engaged, and when switching between modules it would be great if we wouldn't need to adjust general sound levels in order to prevent our neighbours from banging on the wall 😉

If said sounds are tied to general DCS settings, it means people who want those epic sounds can have those, and those who need to be a bit more considerate towards neighbours can also be happy without the need to reduce the general sound to such low volumes there is loss of immersion.

This would also count for other HB modules such as the upcoming F-4.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and to consider the request 🙂

Not specifically switch sounds and reheat, but yes it seems there are other sounds not directly linked to the general audio sliders in DCS. I hope HB find some time in their busy schedule to properly address this 🙂

I still hope HB will smooth out the hard sound loop from the external front aspect of the F-14.

Also, getting the unique howl that the F-14 produced at certain angles would be awesome to see someday.

I'm hoping to add some new things to the F-14 audio package from tricks I learned and new samples from the F-4.

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm currently in the middle of a complete re-do of all engine sounds (internal and external for A and B, using some new tricks learned from the F-4 and brand new/improved audio samples as well as many completely new layered sounds like intake howls, etc.

End goal is to get as close as possible to this:
