haffende Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Hi...is there anyway to tweek the wheel brakes ?......as they don't seem very effective. Watching the real thing at Lakenheath indicates , after the aerobraking, they are much more effective than modelled.

Q3ark Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 It all depends on the aircraft weight, how heavy were you when you landed? That thing can weigh as much as a truck and you know how well they stop if you drive lol.
bfr Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Of the more modern jets in DCS I honestly reckon its the best and most stable under braking of the lot (slows down quite well, even when heavy, and isn't nearly as likely to do an end-swapper as the Hornet is under full brakes). 3
Avio Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Speaking of brakes in DCS, I have noticed in many other jets I've bought in DCS, all those others' brakes seem to be not only not very effective in slowing down, but actually cause the jets to swivel left and right a lot when doing hard braking. Is there something wrong in those modelling? Not so at all in this F15E. Best braking action that I've encountered so far. 2

It seems like the other jets do not have a proper implementation of the anti skid system. 2

Is there something wrong in those modelling? Aircraft are different and have different brakes thus may behave differently during braking, esp. under unbalanced load conditions or wind. Refer to the RL manual or check their subforums to know if the modeling is correct. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

This has actually been a discussion that has come up every couple of years, though I can't recall what the conclusion was. That said, I try to land the Mudhen at below 4,000lbs fuel, just like the F-16 (which has worse brakes, IMO), and don't have any problem stopping. 2

Admittedly it probably doesn't help that I presume most people (myself included) due to controller limitations just have wheel brakes mapped in a fully on/fully off manner rather than on an analog axis, so if anti-skid systems for any given aircraft in the game aren't perfect (however true to life or not that is) then they're going to get found out.
